Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

I just came back from pakistan and literally gained 20-25 lbs courtesy of my mom and her amazing cooking as I haven’t visited her in past 7 years, so she stuffed me in case I am not coming back for a couple of years lol

I have been a fit person for past 15 years and this weight gain is frustrating me. Also due to recent lifestyle changes I don’t participate in physical activities as I used to. So I asked one of my close russian friend who had lost around 35-40 lbs in 5 months last year using some diet plan. She has registered me and I’ll be receiving my package in couple of days.

I’ll keep track of my weight loss progress over here IA so I can keep my self motivated.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

post what you are eating and your exercise schedule please

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

I don't know the full details yet as I am still waiting for my package but some high level directions given by my friend was no red meat, no whole wheat or white rice (instead just eat whole grains and things like quinoa, brown rice, stuff like that), strip down sugar and sodium completely from your diet as the package contains snacks comprised of the nutrients needed. Also no coffee/chai(any thing having caffeine). Need to drink lots and lots of water. Veggies except corn, peas, carrots and potatoes are allowed.

There are also 3 cleanse days in 30 day period where you are not suppose to eat anything.

I'll update the details when I receive the package.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy :aejaz:I got my package last night and had a 1 hr call with my friend on how to use all that stuff, it’s a lot lol having shakes, capsules, snacks, energy drinks etc.

So just to summarize I have to stick to a schedule for 30 days which has 4 days of cleansing. The cleansing days are like fasting where I am not suppose to eat anything other than the shakes. The remaining days I can have one regular meal and for the rest of the times I need to have their shakes and snacks.

The regular meals have to be under 400-600 cal range so I am planning to have dinner with my hubby who btw is also on board for having a low calorie meal.

I have to completely avoid red meat, salt, sugar, caffeine, dairy, flour, white rice, egg yolks, Veggies like potatoes, carrots, peas, romaine lettuce etc. all the fruits except green apples and pears.

Drink around 12-13 8 oz glasses of water as this plan is mostly for cleansing your body of toxins.

hmmmm what else yeah she also asked me to take picture of my self from front and sides and measure the body parts I am worried about, she said that some times the weight loss stales but and you get discouraged but you are still losing inches at that time so I have to keep a track of all that.

Any ways today is my first day and I am weighing around 164 lbs so pls wish me luck in this journey. I’ll keep you posted and promise I’ll even post my before and after pics if this plan worked fingers crossed

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

lol Sadia thanks for saying that but I have never been skinny I always had an athletic body having meat or you should say fat at the right places ;)

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

are you doing herbalife?

do add exercise to your plan.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

No not herbalife.

I work from home now so it's very hard for me to incorporate exercise in my daily life as my hubby is back home at 5:30 and we eat dinner around 6. Life has been very relaxing after the marriage :DWe however do go out for regular evening walks and on weekends hit the gym.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

I work and have 3 kids but I am still going4 - 5 times a week for exercise. U need to make a plan. U don't even need to go outside. Buy a DVD and do it home.vi would recommend Jillian Michael 30 day rip or her other work outs.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

Today is my first cleanse day i.e. I am not having anything other then the cleansing syrup and water. I can snack on almonds, green apples, cucumbers etc. if I feel kindda like eating something.
This is my 6th day on the diet but I haven't weighed my self yet as I didn't wanted to feel disappointing if the scale doesn't budge. I'll weigh myself on the 11th day as per the plan to see any noticeable difference. Being said that I do feel like I am losing some of the stomach which my hubby also noticed lol so let's see how it goes as I have another 24 days for this.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

the things i dont like about dietings of any sort is the yo yo effect.. when u start eating 'normal' again, u gain, sometimes a lot more.

to maintain the weight loss, u need to do exercise and keep an eye on what u are eating.

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

and this weight loss thing is a life time regime, just think you need to do some exercises, healthy eating your whole life long, coz if do for a few weeks and then stop and go back to old habbits, which is very easy, you don't have long time permanent effects.

what most ppl dont realise, once u hit your 30s your metablism is not the same as it was, it slows down, you store more fat as before, so unless you are eating less, which you are not, you have to burn the calories in order to stay in your weight range. I know I am blabbing but thats the harsh reality. ;(

Re: Starting on a new diet plan, need motivation

I totally agree Saadia but desperate times call for desperate measures :D
And the plan I am following is more like a cleansing plan and lifestyle change than a diet as after the 30/60 days of cleansing I'll be on maintenance phase which is where you have to make healthy choices while eating and schedule exercise routines. I mean what's wrong with cutting sodium/sugar or swapping regular oil with olive oil?

Any ways what I meant earlier was not that I have stopped working out completely but I don't do that much extraneous activities as I was used to doing before the marriage. Like I use to train twice a week for martial arts and swam every other weekend along with regularly going to the gym. I don't get to do that any more, mostly I just run/walk during weekdays for a hour or so or do some yoga.
