Jawaid Choudhry the columnist the other day in his column that Let Us Compete With India In Education stated that his friend Jehangir met an Indian student in Germany doing his engineering there. Jehangir was surprised when this student told that after completion of his studies he would go back to serve India and can not think of staying in Germany.
Parents of this Indian student were very poor. Both father and mother worked long hours and only then family could had one time meal. The poor parents knowing the importance of education sacrificed themselves by more longer hours work. In the meantime Indian government announced an educational scheme under which 600 students are picked up from city level, 600 at district level out of those selected from city levels, 600 at provincial level and 600 for education abroad. This student succeeded. The columnist says if our government cannot do this due to lack of funds, then why did not it ask 10,000 millionaires present in Pakistan to do this. He says why rich people themselves come forward and start adopting some students. And this would bring a revolution in Pakistan.
This is a very kind thought of the columnist Jawaid. I am at present abroad. My monthly salary as received is well good enough to cover the yearly expenses of two high school students in Pakistan including admission, fees, books and little transport. Recently some one in a letter to editor very pleasently mentioned that columnist Jawaid Choudhry every year goes abroad for travel here and there. The senior columnist Abdul Qadar Hassan a month back stated going to Umrah had become a social status and in my view very rightly suggested that after once Umrah performed the money should be more utilised for marrying poor girls etc. Another columnist on this counter stated that visits abroad just on tour leisure trips too were a burden on national economy and this money could better be used much better by helping the poor of the country.
Political parties spend lavishly on posters, entertainment of voters before elections in street election offices of theirs and when time comes for submitting expenses these parties always show their sweet ignorance saying that the party did not spend all this, these were the voters themselves who for the love of the party did at their own at their expense. In case of writers touring so often abroad I know their “fans” bear all such expenses “in love”. But these fans can too join in this sponsorship scheme but diverting those “fan love” to sponsoring in the name of their beloved writers.
I offer to spare two months full salaries every year sponsoring two students provided columnist Javed starts acting on his own proposal by transferring his annual expense on his foreign tours towards sponsoring students as many could be covered under that money.

Cmon Shahnaz! If you want to donate then do it for your own sake. Why would you want to drag Javed?
Yes, you are right that why have I involved Jawaid Choudhry the proposer of the very nice idea and if I wish to act on the proposal why should I silently not do it. You are right.
Most of our national ills are people like you who neither understand, think, evaluate and consider what was actual written or was said and what was the catch in it but in joy either start clapping hands or shouting.
One thing being an active person and knowing the naked facts prevailing on the floor I may tell you that today people both ordinary and rich are doing the welfare work like hospitals, schools etc as they have realized government cannot do the same as it has other “jobs” to do.
Having said that, it is also a fact which people like you must remember that growing disrespect towards law, frustrations, breaking of laws eg red signal is mainly because ordinary man today sees those who advise to care for traffic signal themselves cross the red light hence from the mind of this common man respect for traffic law vanishes. When rule for one dish is introduced and the people see the same man who made the law serving 10 dishes, start treating the law as a piece of paper for using as a rapper. Take as another example. The so called intellectual, so called big writer and so called respected leader Hanif Ramay in his old age started advocating use of Urdu language as medium of instruction. This so called intellectual as well as bhuonpoos like him are today advocating the same. But these are the same people who got their own children in American English schools. And this hypocracy is the main thing which has destroyed our nation. Our leaders tell merit has started and very next day they appoint un-experienced son or daughter of so and so on too high salary or a 65 years who cannot even properly walk an Ambassador. When people see the difference between words/sayings and actions then they also started crossing red signals, erecting tents on roads, capturing plots of others.
We have reached to such a stage where no one today is ready to act or will act on any advice of leaders, politicians, professional writers unless people themselves see them turning their written or stated working being turned into actions.
The simplest thing is when such people may they be leaders, rulers, writers, advisers or so called intellectuals would start giving education to their own children education in Urdu people would themselves start the same.
