Anyone seen it, how was it??..
If this one doesn’t do well it’s the end of Star trek:(
I watched it last night. It was good...like a very long episode! I'm a Star Trek: TNG fan so my opinion is biased. I enjoyed it though. I was a tad bit disappointed with the ending though. One of the main characters is killed.
Just saw it yesterday. Awesome movie. I never really enjoyed the Next Generation series, but this one was definately entertaining. I'm still very loyal to the original cast though.
Just saw it now…fantastic movie!!..:k:
Spoiler alert!
WHY DID DATA HAVE TO KILL HIMSELF!!!..
…he was my fav character!
could’ve given a bit more of a warning!! ![]()
The movies crashing..bad...the end of Star trek!:(
Zakk, I dont think you know much about whats going on in the Star Trek world and Paramount. In case you didnt know, Star Trek can never end, they have a new series running, which is doing very well, even better than what they predicted. I loved the show too, eventhough voyager disspointed me, and I am not so fond of Rick Berman taking these risks. I must remind you that the original Star Trek, that started in the 60s died due to the first interacial kiss on television and got poor ratings, and for more than 10 years there was no star trek, until the late 70s. Enterprise has earned alot of Emmys on its first season and all the trekkies love it, and thats what matters.
The movie was good, the battles scenes were awesome, it was the top grosser in its week (almost equal to Maid in Manhatten) earned decent ratings from IMDB (7.3 stars, which is more than First Contact), and only those idiotic critics who were big TOS fans didnt like it. The only negative aspect of the movie was the fact that alot of it was ripped out of Star Trek II, the Wrath of Khan. And oh yes, this villain (Shinzon) was no match to Khan, played by Ricardo Mountalban, who in Trek II defined an excellent villain.
The Star Trek saga can never end this easily, and if you watched Deep Space Nine, you will know that they can come up with more movies, with even better storylines, since DS9 was a story/character based show rather than a sci-fi show. They can still come up with lots of new movies, and remember, they have alot of series where they can pick from.
John Logan (from Gladiator) came to write the story for Nemesis. The mysterious Romulan Star Empire was defeated by a bunch of slaves (The Remens), which was kinda absurd to a person who followed the series for so long. Even the mighty Federation could not topple the Romulans, and whatever happened to the Tal'Shiar, the secret Romulan intelligence? They did say in the movie that the Government in Romulus was overthrowed, thanks to a Vulcan (obviously Spock, who appeared in two TNG episodes) and went underground in Romulus in hopes to unify the Vulcans and the Romulans.
The battle scenes again were awesome, especially the enterprise firing phaser spreads at zero elevations. However, it didnt end like Star Trek 6, the final voyage of the original crew, now that was something that could really bring a tear to your eye. Compared to that, this farewell was nothing. And oh yes, I loved the way Data died, since he always aspired to be more human (anyone who has seen the the entire series would understand), and he dies fullfilling such an prophecy by saving his captain.

Aatif film dekhi bhi hay yaa bas spock say chir kha karr thumbs down day rahay ho?
hahahahaha!
Spock..salam, thanks for the info, you ruined the movie for non US viewers lol!;)
I love Star Trek, I have been watching the show for ages. I think Voyager was after season 3 the worst thing that ever happened to Star trek. Enterprise; I thought was ok, but the second season is performing very badly besides that everybody was execting nemesis to do really well. The even number jinx.
Unfortunately Enterprise has messed with the continuity quite a bit. And Insurrection, Generations and from what I hear Nemesis is that they are more like long episodes. Rather then full length movies the way TOS movies were.
Zakk, enterprise is pretty strong in the second season, virtually all the trekkies I know are enjoying it, and you can see that its getting no heat from trekkies on the web.
As for nemesis, its already completed the quota the Paramount expected. Youre saying Generations, Insurrection, Nemesis were like long episodes, but why was First Contact not like a long episode?
Youre saying the TOS movies were brilliant, now dont get me wrong, I am also more of a TOS fan, but to be honest, none of the TOS movies apart from ST 2 and ST 6 were different from what you may term long episodes. Even ST6 had its share of criticism from most critics, and you should realize that alot of fights were going on in Paramount at that time over storylines and characters, so the movie was not really a 100%.
The only complains I have against nemesis was the fact that they didnt give the crew a proper farewell, like they did to the TOS crew, despite their 15 years. However, they might have done this on purpose, to make way for another TNG movie.
Spock, I do intend to watch Enterprise's new series when it shows in the UK. But comapred to much of the sci fi shows around nowadays it doesn't stand out the same way. TNG literally defined a new generation of sci fi shows. While DS9 after the first 2 seasons probably became one of the most interesting St shows made. Enterprise is good, but it's not great. The continuity glitches annoyed me as well. As it did many of my friends who are old time Trekkers.
TOS: I consider ST 2 and ST 4 as some of the best ST movies, made ST 4 was the biggest ST hit Star Trek had, closely followed by First Contact.( another personal favourite). Insurrection was nice, but it wasn't something unforgettable, again I am sure some TNG episodes have been better then Insurrection.
I usually check trekweb.com for ST updates and the news coming out of there is NOT good.
Well, from ur first two paragraphs, I agree with you, an trust me, you will like Enterprise, atleast yorue willing to watch it ![]()
As for trekweb, you should realize that there are alot of Rick Berman haters over there, and perhaps you dont know about this. They tried to propose a new trek series based on Captain Sulu and his adventures aboard the USS excelsior, partly inspired by the Voy episode called “Flashback”. When Paramount ignored this, they started lashing out at them.
As for continuity, trust me, the only thing thats wrong is that they show Klingons with the new makeup, eventhough they were not like this TOS. Apart from that, they follow everything right. Even the controls on the new ship are mostly mechanical, and they dont have photon torpedoes ![]()
Btw, since youre in the UK, I guess youve not yet seen the movie as yet, (im not sure as to what date it would be released there). Please do go and watch it, and let me know what you think. This is from trekweb.com
