lol…i am just watching this Rock on…and o man…they ripped off majority of Junoon’s songs :hehe:

one of their song is a rip off “mahi” by junoon.
lol. no doubt classical music and even simple music is very appreciated in india…but still they are really far far away from pop, rock, metal, progressive rock, hard rock, etc.

Akshay Kumar the undisputed king of Bollywood carries a grief with him of not winning the Best Actor Award ever in his life. But the actor surprised everyone with his humbleness and humility when he refused to accept the Most Popular Actor Award for his performance in Singh Is Kinng. Akshay said that Aamir had delivered an awesome performance in Ghajini and it is he who deserved the award. He requested Aamir to accept the award in his place. Akshay’s gesture has earned him praises from all quarters in Bollywood and set the right tone for his latest movie Chandni Chowk To China. It will be interesting to see if Aamir accepts the awards considering his dislike for attending award functions.

^ lol. prolly he wants to act along with amir khan…afterall amir’s almost all the last 5-6 movies were the block busters :hehe:
and this ghajini has already break all the past records of highest grossing bollywood (prolly still haven’t passed sholay as it is still being screened in several indian, china cinemas, but this ghajini marks itself as #2 in a very short span of time)

Akshay Kumar is ruling Bollywood these days and while Amir Khan might be the thinking man’s superstar, when it comes to box-office collections its Akshay Kumar all the way.

I think he was sincere when he refused to accept the award. It's not like he's Shahrukh Khan who wins atleast one award every year.. if SRK did that, it would make sense because he has so many why would he care.
To give it up for your colleague is quite gracious especially when you don't even win any to begin with.

ps. joking…i like his acting…in fact he is pretty funny and witty actor. but he is mainly chosen for masala movies, so he really needs to get selective.

but as the news said that he never got a award for best actor, so i think him giving award to amir khan is just an expression of retaliation against these biased awards.

no matter what…serious acting is easy (i.e. SRK melo drama), whereas bringing smile to people’s face is way harder and he sure deserve an award…but all he need to have a block buster under Yash Raj film’s Banner, or UTV :smiley:

Add the total collections and returns to distributors, and Akshay is far ahead. Of the Aamir films you have mentioned, Rang De Basanti was a multi star cast movie which was a hit mainly because of its theme and great music, Fanaa had Kaajol (need I say more ??), and of course Taare Zameen Par had Darsheel and an awesome story. Almost all the Akshay movies I have mentioned would have been flops if not for Akshay. they really did not have much meat in them.

For a "non-actor" like Akshay who typically does not win awards, its very gracious to even suggest that someone else deserved it more than him.

And for the record, I am a huge Akshay Kumar AND Aamir Khan fan.

i agree. Amir khan has proven himself again and again. he comes out with one movie a year but spends months just getting into the character. He looks great in ghajini..he worked hard on that body and with that age it is not easy…with many actors deteriorating due to alchohol abuse…

i also noticed he never shows up for the awards. When Lagaan won many awards a time back his whole team was there except him. dont know the whole story.

glad hrithik won (in a movie not by his dad lol) glad shahrukh khan did not win. yay ash won! (although I loved her in Guru…much more than in jodha akbar where her role was not interesting). and LOVE the khuda jaanay song! im so addicted to it. & i wish tushaar kapoor would just go away.

I read sumwhere that Aamir kinda lost trust and faith in the Indian award system n that he doesnt believe in the authenticity of the selection n winning process..(sumfin like that) Although he made an exception for the Oscars.. which he did attend when his movie Lagaan was nominated..

What I also heard.. is that when Aamir's movie r released.. he goes undercover to cinema's to observe how the crowd reacts 2 his moviez.. I dont know whether thas true.. but I heard it a few times..

There should be a best Versatile actor and i reckon Amir khan should get it because of the versatality in the roles that he plays in his films they'r all different like taare Zameen par he had a total different part to play then what he did in Ghajini or Lagaan.

were as other actors in the film industry suck as SRK play alot of the same roles over and over again, like his role in rab ne banadi jori was alot similar to kal ho na ho and kabhi alvida na kehna etc. :@:
