Karan Johar is completely sleepless as his film My Name is Khan approaches the release date. He is hoping that people understand the character that Shah Rukh plays in the film as it is quite an unusual character, not attempted on Hindi films too often.
Unlike what SRK plays in other movies, this one is not at all smart and can’t understand some common phrases. “Rizwan, the character that Shah Rukh plays, does not understand hidden meaning and takes what is said literally. Like when in English we say ‘break a record’, Rizwan things we have to break a record as he does not understand the meaning.
Then when someone says ‘her husband ran away to Australia’ he thinks the person actually ran that distance,” says Karan and he adds this is not funny as it is a rather serious problem called Asperger. “We have done a whole lot of research and understood various problems faced by people with the syndrome. “Sometimes such people also have problems with colours. In our film Rizwan has a problem with Yellow.
They get scared and move away when they see such a colour. They also have problems getting acquainted to new people,” adds Karan.
Earlier we have seen Shah Rukh having problem with fire in Om Shanti Om but that had no connection with Aspergers. This film promises to bring a whole new dimension to Shah Rukh’s performance.
