Srinath plans retirement - I think he heard me !!

The only time I agree with Pakistanis here is when they say that Indian bowlers dont have enough beef in their butt.
Srinath is one of them. Hit him for a six and see his shoulders droop. Because of this weak attitude he could never even do justice to his batting abilities. He always looked nervous and edgy at the crease expecially in tense situations.
Another bowler I would want to hang his boots is Srinath’s Karnataka team mate -Venkatesh Prasad. This man is/was Sanath Jayasurya’s milkman. Jayasurya could hit him to any part of the ground he chose to. Prasad invented the “slow delivery” but only because he could not deliver a fast one.
Actually Indian “pace” bowlers have been pathetic since the beginning of time. I never liked Kapil Dev too. I think much of his “success” can be attributed to the fact that the other bowlers in the Indian side for most of his career were much worse and somebody had to take those ten wickets.
I seriously think we worship some false gods in India. Kapil Dev is one of them. He played an infinite number of tests to get his 400 odd wickets and towards the end of the career his wickets were mostly tailenders who dared to fancy their chances against him.I think it was Viv Richards who said Kapil would not have found place in the West Indies side had he been born in West Indies.Hearing him mumbling words from the commentary box in recent times has convinced me of one thing : He does not have a brain much less a “cricketing” brain.
And there is Kumble who thinks he can fool all the people all the time. Too bad he gets under-prepared pitches (especially laid out for him) only in India.
I could go on and on. But one line sums it all : INDIAN BOWLING SUCKS BIGTIME.
And now for my out-of-the-box recommendation to the selectors that can work out much better for Indian cricket :
Do not have any “specialist” bowlers in the side please. Just pick all 11 batsmen (one of whom can keep wickets). If Tendulkar/Ganguly take as many(or as few) wickets as the so-called “specialist” bowlers why have these “specialist” bowlers in the team at all.Atleast now we will have a team that bats right down to No. 11 without affecting the bowling strength (or the lack of it).
O wait…did I mention Agarkar… may be some other time…

Finnally someone is decent enough to realize the truth in this forum.
Forget Srinath, the whole Indian bowling lineup should consider retiring.
Its about time India should start buying Paki bowlers, because there is no place for great Pakistani bowlers left in the national side because of unlimited amount of pacers.
I think India needs to do what some mid east countries in the 2000 olympics did, buy players from foreign countries.
On a serious note, Srinath was one of the decent bowler in the national side, eventhough with lack of pace, he did sometimes barely swing the bowl a little bit.

Srinath has for years carried the Indian attack alone and has been one of the more decent bowlers in the team. He is over the hill now and should retire but due to the lack of any new decent pace bowler he is forced to carry on. The sorry state of affairs is more a commentary on the quality or lack of it of the Indian bowlers rather than Srinath. If India had a decent bowling attack they would have been a very good team considering their batting line up.

What? hes retiring? About time if you ask me... However, Im going to miss him, for his yateem expression when he gets hit for fours and sixes...

Yateem will be missed...

Chilli.... who hacked your account? C'mon, tell us :~)

Good question Pristine… Actually I have become sick of having my posts deleted here… so taking the Paki perspective for a change…

sometimes I feel that mods(esp. Outlaw) get a pager message just as I post something here so that my post can be deleted before anyone gets to read it.Tried to leave this forum a few times but I seem to have developed an incurable addiction/obsession that is about to ruin my life.
By the way, if you meet Peacemaker, please let him know I miss him and I am still waiting for that luncheon meeting in San Jose.

Thats a good reason to make such a post.haha ha

Ever heard “As you sow so shall you reap”.

Actually No, You can find many more yateems in your country itself. You just have to loose one match and your players families will be kidnapped, mothrs will be robbed houses will be stoned and god knows what.

I didn't know Pakistan was in he business of selling Fast Bowlers. Well I wouldnt be surprise If PCB is going out of business after so many cancelled tours and since they can no longer pay the players, they have started selling them. The Amount of unlimited talent talk sounds so lame - still cant find a decent bowler after Waqar Younis and has to take help from 'Javeline Throwers'

Well 'OLYMPIC' reminds me of a suggestion I earlier made - Please send those 'JAVELINE THROWERS' to Participate in Olympics.

I am thinking of arranging a gettogether of members in the bay area. Might as well restart the process. In the meantime, send me a PM, if and when u have availability.

If you won’t stay with the topic of the thread, your post will be deleted. For instance, like bushing around and using profanities, Personal attacks, which I’ve seen alot between Asif_K, UMAIR316, ANDHA_QANOON, SPOCK

PT, please read my posts carefully before including me with the others, almost no one uses profanities in this forum, and attacks are only on the cricket teams not personnaly and I have no idea what does bushing around means.

And nothing is more painful than seeing best cricketers of your country bowling/batting their hearts out, still their families are kidnapped, mugged and houses stoned.

Let us now analyze the career of Srinath…
http://www-uk.cricket.org/link_to_database/PLAYERS/IND/S/SRINATH_J_06001997/

(check out the link above, its got a great picture of him, with his all famous expression)

His strike rates are pretty ordinary though… But he is still India’s second best bowler after Kapil Dev… Strange isnt it…

**India’s Ganguly to ask Srinath to reverse quit move **

Srinath played in India's 2-1 defeat in a >five-test series in West Indies last month, >but was not chosen for the one-day series >which the visitors won by the same margin.

Why was he kicked out in the first place then? Getting kicked out was the reason Srinath started getting retirement thoughts in the first place...
