That’s ala the ill-fated scoop shot by Misbah that cost Pakistan the final in the last T20 WC.
Amazing save by Mathews indeed - can’t expect a Pakistani player to do anything even close. The fielder would prolly give up 10 steps inside the boundary line.

yupp,, ^^ that was the same shot Misbah tried on the final ball of the finals.... but he had played this shot many a times before with success..... I believe this shot was created by Miandad long ago....
