Re: Srikkanth says : “India should have batted responsibly”
very good conclusion! nobody could’ve ever thought of that! shava Srikkanth ![]()
Re: Srikkanth says : "India should have batted responsibly"
What I find most amusing is that Srikkanth was himself well-known for throwing his wicket away (in other words - batting irresponsibly) and he is preaching responsible batting !!
Re: Srikkanth says : “India should have batted responsibly”
“Virender Sehwag, bad back or no bad back, has been in poor form and lacking in confidence for quite a while and Sachin Tendulkar is in the worst form of his career,” he wrote about two of India’s batting stars.
“Chappell’s theory of using five bowlers looks good on paper because the team has more bowling options. But when India play five bowlers, it looks as though Chappell is trying to make up for a lack of quality with quantity."
Gavaskar (alongwith Boycott and Hussain) blasts spineless Indian batsmen
Re: Srikkanth says : “India should have batted responsibly”
:k:
and the reverse can be said for Pakistan.
Re: Srikkanth says : "India should have batted responsibly"
First of all I don't know why people (and some Pak Guppies here in sarcasm) still refer to India's batting as the "best batting line-up" in the world.
This may have been true 3 years ago when the lineup had Sehwag, Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman - ALL IN FORM.
Now you can strike off Sehwag, Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman from the equation. So what remains of it is DRAVID. And DRAVID (for all his abilities) is obviously not the best batting line-up in the world, is he ?
The bigger problem, however, is that all of these guys are over 30 and best people we have to replace them are players like Venugopal Rao, Gambhir etc... which is not saying much.

Honestly, I think Pak's batting line-up is much superior to India's.
Although the phrase "second-best batting line-up in the world" in the initial post of the Post-Martem thread was indeed a sarcasm, I was merely pointing to a fact that Hoggard has improved by leaps and bounds in this series, and has come through for his team (and so has Patel).
Regarding the above, I second your notion. :)
Re: Srikkanth says : "India should have batted responsibly"
Although Some1 Bhai (and others are most welcome), you have expressed your thoughts on India's current bowling line-up in the recent past, but regarding what Boycott has stated in his comments up above as far as his "Five bowlers - sacrificing quality vs. maximizing quantity" theory, I am in the mindset that you do agree with Boycott in this matter?
After gaining the pace attack back with the new emergence of Munaf Patel (and SreeSanth), yes, I do think that the batting, of all things, should be considered the top priority at this point in time. Sehwag will continue to be a part of the team (his batting position might fluctuate from time to time, by the looks of it), and since Tendulkar is out of the ODI series, we might as well get a chance to see Suresh Raina back in the team.
Thoughts on this subject matter?
