I liked Amir Sohail's captaincy just for it being aggressive in nature. We had some brilliant matches under his captaincy with some exceptional field placements. Inzi used to be part of that team yet he never learnt anything! it won't continue for too long I feel.

what won't continue for too long? his captaincy or his passive attitude?

i'm pretty sure he'll remain captain up until the world cup.

with all of his questionable calls, his method of captaincy has had one positive effect, and that's the respect players have for each other. i think he's a good captain in that sense. and only in that sense-- i still think he's made some of the most ridiculous judgements (especially within the last couple of weeks).

i'm hoping he learns from his mistakes though and comes correct.

but we need to cut these people some slack- i mean, when younis khan was coming from lower down the order, there were ppl crying about bob woolmer and inzimam's decision to start him late, since it 'statistically' (as well as according to cricket "analysts"- a term i use loosely) showed that he would be better off at three.

and look, he obviously still struggles at that position as well.

so regardless of the ridiculous moves he's made (the one that bothers me the most is when he didn't put mohammad asif to start after lunch), i'm going to take a rather optimistic approach at the situation and hope that they can recouperate and get back to their normal ways.

i mean, it was inzamam after all who was captain a couple of months back when we beat india in karachi after getting embarrassed with 36-6.

so, as much as it has to do with inzamam and his poor decision making, the players need to step up their game too. you know?

That's the biggest brainteaser... he's one player in the team right now who has been part of the team starting at Imran Khan!, then Wasim and others too. Why the hell hasn't he learnt?!!

Inzi and Dravid are just too nice people to be kaptaan-ing .
I see traits of Inzi in Dravid's captaincy.

In the Mumbai test - in one particular over Munaf Patel gave all sorts of problems to Collingwood with short-pitched stuff...one ball even hitting Collingwood on the shoulder.
Dravid promptly took Munaf out of the bowling attack - nice man that he is , he did not want to see Collingwood hurt I think...

There is where I miss Gangu's *Kaptaani...*for all his faults..he was a very agresssive captain.

Having said that, I admire Dravid for willing to bat in any position for the team. Inzimam, on the other hand, for some inexplicable reason seems not to budge from his number 5 position regardless of the match situation.

And I would very much agree with your reasons as well.

At least, from the positive point view of Dravid and Co., the captain and the coach were at will to send the pinch-hitters up the batting order to fully maximize the utilization of Power-Plays, as we noted in the 5-match ODI series. From Pathan and Dhoni to Yuvraj to Tendulkar, they all were tried at either the opening or one-down positions, consistently in all five matches combined, and more or less, they delivered successful results for their team. That is what you call being aggressive, take the charge from the front, and most importantly, willing to take risks.

Regarding Inzamam being a part of Imran squad back in '92...............Fourteen (14) years have gone by; fourteen long and hard years, and look what we are thriving against. Just glance at where we are standing right now, and smell the sand on the ground. Fourteen years of witnessing aggressive captains taking charge from all aspects of modern cricket, and here we have this one soul still playing from that era, who has survived for so long and who hasn't learnt a thing. If the longitude of the timeline mentioned above is constant (which it is) and fails to budge from it's pre-historic days, I fail to see how is Inzamam going to start pulling his feet together in less than one year, with World Cup dangling from the ceiling.

I meant his attitude, either he’d have to change or people won’t allow him to survive :). Who could forget the test match in New Zealand where we accepted the offer of light with only 20-odd runs to get with the chances of rain the next day. We had nearly lost a chance to win that test match, thanks to no one else but our ‘Kuptaan kee Approach’ :grumpy:
