I still believe that Yasir Hameed deserves to be in the side more than Faisal Iqbal. Yasir has scores of 60+ in his last 2 test innings in the last test that he played against Australia. I wonder why our management forgets everything in a giffy.
We have the example of our opening pair, it was finally decided that Shoaib Malik should not be a regular opener against India and he was replaced by Imran Farhat and after failing in the first innings the Butt-Farhat pair added a 100+ opening partnership. Ironically that is the last test Pakistan played before this one and yet the management totally ignored the stats and Shoaib Malik is once again back at the top. The only reason is that our team selection in test matches is "greatly" influenced by the ODI performances, doesn't matter if you are an opener or not, you have the desired approach/technique or not! :)

I do agree with your theory, but would like to add a bit of taste from my side as well. Yes, as far as the hypothesis of whether or not Imran Farhat should be glued as an opener, I would very much like to see him at this position, as his style of technique and the temperament that he possesses is on high grounds as opposed to Salman Butt, who, at times, can also get in great touch if he gets going in his usual full-flow with the bat. Shoaib Malik should be dropped down the order, alongwith the likes of Afridi, Razzaq and Akmal, which effectively, would strengthen our middle-order alongwith providing the edge to our long list of pinch-hitters.
A combination of (Farhat + Hameed) or (Farhat + Butt) should be considered the most likely, in my opinion. Malik is not an option. He is consistently being shuffled up and down the order already as it is, and it should now be time to persist with either one of the two combinations above, and stick with it for the time being, at least until the beginning of English tour which would, in turn, provide the necessary confidence to both the batters and boost their faith to greater heights.

Agreed. Farhat+Butt pair deserved another chance but unfortunately Shoaib Malik performed as an opener in ODIs 
(specially the last one) that booked his place as an opener for the test 
Yasir should be tried so that we have a left and right hand combination to start with.

yar i meant kay it doesnt mean that you are going through threads or forums all the time.
