Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Re: Pakistan V SL

May be like Zimbabawe, Pakistan will not play Test Cricket, I am very disappointed.

Re: Pakistan V SL

Cricinfo
Lunch Sri Lanka wouldn't have asked for a better start after losing the toss. They have three wickets already and the batsmen are not looking very comfortable with the ball jagging around for the seamers while spinners are getting some turn. Dhammika Prasad nipped out the openers with two inswingers while Azhar, who was looking good with his cover drives, was beaten by a Herath special. A lot depends on the current pair if Pakistan are to break out of this sticky situation.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle, 1st day

Phew ..
28.3
Mathews to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, loud appeal for lbw as Mathews gets one to jag one sharply onto the pads of Misbah. The batsman was pressing forward, but played outside the line. The umpire is not interested but Mathews wants a review. Mahela is not so keen, but the captain goes ahead with it anyway. It looks like the impact was just outside or around off stump. Judging by the replays, it looks like it hit him just outside the line even though it was hitting the stumps. They stick with the umpire's call. Another relief for Pakistan

Re: Pakistan V SL

This pair should bat in next 2 sessions.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle, 1st day

Younis Khan :hbk: 29th fifty

40.4Perera to Younis Khan, 2 runs, he gets to his fifty with a carefully placed whip to deep midwicket! A solid effort from the senior batsman. His 29th in Tests

40.3
Perera to Younis Khan, FOUR, make it three boundaries in a row! Perera pushes it too far to the off side and Younis was expecting that, he punches it through cover off the back foot with a powerful swish

40.2
Perera to Younis Khan, FOUR, and now he comes down the pitch and launches it over mid-on for another boundary. Good show of intent

40.1
Perera to Younis Khan, FOUR, the sweep shot is his best ally! He whacks the tossed up delivery from off stump line to the deep square leg boundary

Re: Pakistan V SL

Century up :jhanda:

104/3

Re: Pakistan V SL

Pakistan is lucky in review :jhanda: **

30.1**
Mathews to Younis Khan, no run, another loud shout and this looks very good as the batsman is stuck on the back foot! Mathews again gets one to jag back from just outside off.. It hits Younis on the back foot and was hitting the middle stump. If there was no inside edge - and i can’t see one in the review -** it was as plumb as it gets.** Mathews wants to go for a review.. Mahela is not so keen again.. This time Mathews decides against it.. He should have gone for it. Another massive reprieve for Pakistan

They stick with the umpire’s call. Another relief for Pakistan

24.2
Prasad to Younis Khan, no run, there is another one and it’s a biggie! Younis Khan has been given out caught behind! Another one of those deliveries that jags back sharply, surprises the batsman with the movement, hits the pads then deflects to the keeper. Younis asks for a review. The replays show there is no inside edge.. it took the flap of the pad before hitting the thigh pad. Younis has a reprieve…

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle, 1st day

Fifty partnership  MashAllah Younis getting confidence but he should be on wicket for the remaining period of the day. :jhanda:

**Current partnership **54 runs, 22.3 overs, RR: 2.40 (Younis Khan 41, Misbah-ul-Haq 10)

Re: Pakistan V SL

Another successful review by Younis :hbk:

44.4
Perera to Younis Khan, no run, he is stuck on the back foot and his hit on the pads! Perera went on an appeal straightaway. Younis was caught on the back foot but looked like going over. Younis asks for a review straightaway. It pitched on the middle stump, straightened and is just missing the top of middle by hair’s breadth

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle, 1st day

Umpire reviews remaining Pakistan 2 (2 successful, 0 unsuccessful); Sri Lanka 1 (0 successful, 1 unsuccessful) :jhanda:

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

At tea Pakistan are 140/3, no wickets in the session and a solid performance from the two rocks.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

From Cricinfo:

Tea What a turnaround! Pakistan - mostly Younis(the superhero)](http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-pakistan-2014/content/image/767373.html?page=1) - scored 83 runs in the session. There were a few nervous moments with a couple of appeals being reviewed, but apart from that, Younis counterattacked brilliantly to thwart the spinners. He used the sweep shot smartly. Misbah played his part well too, holding one end and tiring out the bowlers.

Herath to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, what a ripper! This is tossed up, pitched on the middle and Misbah was looking to drive it to off, but it turns sharply to catch the outside edge en route to the wicket keeper. Just when Abhishek Purohit was saying how good Misbah is as a player of spin, one of the best in the world along with Sanga (I hope he mentions it in his report).. He falls to a spinner..
**Misbah-ul-Haq c †Dickwella b Herath 31 (100b 2x4 0x6) SR: 31.00

Partnership of 100.**

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 1st Test, Galle

Once again nice partnership. Younis Khan should stay at wicket as long as he can.

Misbah gone 160/4

56.4
Eranga to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, this is expertly steered through backward point for a single that brings the century of the partnership. Misbah-Younis save the day again
