Squeeze put on Mahdi Army

Death Squads put on notice. Does al-Sadr cease or fill the streets of Iraq with more blood?

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Mahdi Army fighters said Thursday they were under siege in their Sadr City stronghold as U.S. and Iraqi troops killed or seized key commanders in pinpoint nighttime raids. Two commanders of the Shiite militia said Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has stopped protecting the group under pressure from Washington and threats from Sunni Muslim Arab governments.

Re: Squeeze put on Mahdi Army

Maliki is an eye-ran-nee stooge and the 'coalition' is indirectly supporting eye-ran in consolidating its control on eye-rack. eye-ran-nee moolahs are laughing their bellies off.

Re: Squeeze put on Mahdi Army

I dont think its much of a Squeeze.

This is basically a typical show put on by Malliki to show progress is being made.

He has probably asked the Shia Death Squads to tone the violence down.

Once USA is satisfied that Iraq's violence is under managable levels, they will leave and then the Shia will take over.

But this also depends on Al Qaeda. If they do another attack like blowing up that mosque, you could see another cycle of violence hitting iraq

Iraqi leader drops protection of militia.

Iraq’s prime minister has dropped his protection of an anti-American cleric’s Shiite militia after U.S. intelligence convinced him the group was infiltrated by death squads, two officials said Sunday.

In a desperate bid to fend off an all-out American offensive, the radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr last Friday ordered the 30 lawmakers and six Cabinet ministers under his control to end their nearly two-month boycott of the government. They were back at their jobs Sunday.
Al-Sadr had already ordered his militia fighters not to display their weapons. They have not, however, ceded control of the formerly mixed neighborhoods they have captured, killing Sunnis or forcing them to abandon their homes and businesses.

^ they will re-surface once the political pressure is off. The boycotting shia cabinet members are back to work. They will exercise their street muscle when the time is right. They have all the time in the world where as time is running out for everyone else -- too much political pressure.
