Re: Squads for Twenty 20 World Cup
After seeing the scores of the practise matches…it doesnt look like it. Yousuf struggled to get a decent score throughout and left the camp because his mom was sick or maybe he got the point he’s not gonna get selected with this kind of batting and his horrible fielding skills.
Younis is a solid batsman…and could easily do the job of Yousuf…and his job like Yousuf’s would have been if he was selected…is to knock the ball around and let the hitters do their job.
Also, Younis is a much, much better fielder than Yousuf.
And, I believe it was never between Younis and Yousuf. Yousuf is a good test batsman, and a good ODI batsman…but for 20/20, you dont have to have a technically perfect player. I think, PCB tried to pick a 20/20 specialist squad like the ECB did. ECB picked James Kirtley, Luke Wright, both players who would probably never play an ODI or test match for England, yet they were selected.
Fawad Alam, Hafeez, and Misbah are all players who have done well in the 20/20 format…hence, PCB has picked them.
