Sprinting

I think I am going to try a new approach, cut back on the jogging and sprint a short distance downhill. I think that will be a better cardio than jogging.

Has anyone tried it, and what do you guys think?

Re: Sprinting

you might want to look into total fitness plans. increase your muscle memeory, your body movements will tell you how best to hold a endurance building excercise.

this should include healthy eating and drinking plenty of cold clean water.
yoga detox, if you will. all of it needs regularity and consistency.

Re: Sprinting

How do I increase my muscle memory? How will body movements tell me how best to build endurance? What is a total fitness plan?

Re: Sprinting

down hill sprints don't work on your endurance. Its like teaching you body how to drive in higher gears. Its usually combined with uphill running.
uphill gives you streanght.
D-hill give you chance to move you leg to full extant. However be mindful down hill running is strain full on your knees and they are going to wear out faster. And also you rick a ligament injury.

From what I get reading you first post. You should keep doing jogging. Add sprints on top of it.
jog twice a weak
sprints twice a weak , short sprints 30M could make you lightening fast and give you explosive energy.

@ dushwari very nice informative post.

Re: Sprinting

muscle memory helps keep the balance that you focus on, when you are in a yoga position.
any movement of body muscles which has to do with keeping balance, and holding still in a calm but worked out position, requires muscle memory.

athletes and yoga doers know this so do gymnasts and dancers.

Re: Sprinting

Thanks KA very useful info. I don't need endurance for an hour or even a half an hour I just need endurance for a 5 minutes of flat out high intensity grappling. The reason I was thinking of cutting down on jogging and trying sprinting was because I thought it would increase my speed and energy whilst trying to throw an opponent or maybe whilst trying to avoid a hold down, strangle or armlock.

Re: Sprinting

I see. However in our game people are always trying to unbalance us and its difficult to predict how they will do it as there are limitless ways they can do it. Plus it only takes a few seconds at max to unbalance if you give them the opportunity. So I don't know if muscle memory will help much.
