So just like they tell you in school that don’t come if you have a fever, runny nose/bad cold, vomiting or flu symptoms, should the same rules apply at our local masjid where we go 3 times a week for classes?
I’ve noticed that most little kids have been sick with bad coughs, runny dripping noses the past few weeks and they keep coming, more people fall sick and it keeps going around in circles.
I mentioned this to some of the teachers but they think the kids will be behind or will miss out. I feel that they can catch up or study at home but they need to recover before they come in.
VERY important for teachers to make sure the kids use tissues for noses, cover mouths when they cough or sneeze. In our school, they also ask parents to send in those anti-bacterial wipes and sprays. And they actually use them liberally, esp when there are sick kids in class. It really seems to work....
As far as being absent, our school sends home guidelines every couple of weeks as a reminder - if your child has a fever, no school until the child is 24 hours fever free without meds. If child has a runny nose where the mucous is yellow or green, stay home. If they have a bad nites sleep, keep them home. And they stick to this, if you try to push it, you will get a phone call from the school nurse by 10am telling you to come pick up your child.
oh yes!! these policies do nothing but good! Even most grocery stores now ... have those anti-bacterial wipes available where you get the carts to wipe down the cart before your child touches it. Everywhere and anywhere you go, germs are spread by hand-contact and by not covering noses and mouths when coughing or sneezing...so anywhere and everywhere that this can be enforced will ensure healthier kids yeah?
