Hi guys,
Anyone here petitioned for their spouse on a greencard and then later transferred the case to citizenship I did this and I want how Long did the whole process took after transferring the case to citizenship and how long it took the spouse to come to the US.
thanks in advance…
Re: Spouse Visa..
My brother-in-law's brother did this and it took his wife about 9-10 months to get to the us after his citizenship since the petition was sitting in NVC after getting approved from USCIS.
Re: Spouse Visa..
on green card, your case will take time but if you are citizen then it will fly as Joel said in above post.
Re: Spouse Visa..
Exactly one year, after I got the citizenship and changed the status!!the USCIS approved it within 3 months, NVC timeline depends on how fast can you get things done (we had the documents ready even before the NVC asked for them), and then he did go through the admin processing after interview, like all men do, but 1 year was all it took!

I did while I was still LPR. Status change took exactly two weeks from the day I mailed my naturalization certificate to NVC. and I got my receipts for both AOS and IV along with my status update. I've sent my documents to NVC, hopefully we'll hear from them soon. It took 7 and 1/2 months before we got approval from USCIS.

How long you've to wait for admin process to be done after the interview? And did you file the petition while you were on green card or you waited till you got your citizenship?
Re: Spouse Visa..
^it varies..ours was only 37 days but then at time the process was faster for everyone..people who had been waiting for 2-3 years after the interview were getting visa at the same time as someone who was interviewed two months ago!
Yep filed the petition on green card but it was approved 6 months after changing status to the citizen then about 2-3 months at NVC before getting the interview date!
Ps!! You can find out more about the process at visajourney.com!
Re: Spouse Visa..
^^I knew thats how you were ready for NVC cause thats how we were ready. Ever heard of James' shortcuts?
Re: Spouse Visa..
Either your status LPR or citizen, USCIS takes 5 to 6 month to approve application and forward case to NVC. Its NVC who plays priority game. If you are citizen, then case will immediately forward to consulate for interview.
Re: Spouse Visa..
