Spouse Visa

I’ve passed my citizenship test but waiting for oath ceremony. I filed my husband’s case on my Green Card, for which I got approval notice from USCIS. After my oath ceremony, I’ll have my citizenship number and then I’ll call state department to change my status from legal permanent resident to citizen. My question is:** How long will it take for my husband to get his visa from US embassy in Pakistan since we already got the approval notice after filing his petition with USCIS? And is there any way to expedite his visa process?**

Note: It took little over than 7 months to hear the decision from USCIS on hubby’s I-30.

MODS, I don’t know this type of discussions go in which section, please move the thread to the right section. Thanks.

Re: Spouse Visa

 You applied for your husband while your status was permanent resident and USCIS issued I-797 (NOA2) within 7 month. Are you kidding me?

Generally, it takes years if petitioner is not a US citizen.

Currently, NVC(state department) takes one month to issue NVC number and Invoice number. Once you have those number, you can pay $230 fee for affidavit of support and send I-864 from.
After I-864, you also need to submit choice of agent address, you can download that from state department website and ask your husband to write your name and address so that all mailing directed toward you instead of him, it will save lot days and you can correspond on the behalf of your husband.

I think there is another $75 fee for DS-230 too.
Once that form is accepted, you can also ask your husband to fill ds-230 from and prepare police report, original nikkah nama, original English translation of nikkah nama, photocopy of biographic page of your husband’s passport. and send all those documents to you so you can submit them. after that his interview will be scheduled within two month. It is also observed that male candidates are usually put on AP and that is one of the most annoying part of the process. I hope he could get his visa in 10 days after interview if everything goes ok.

I will advice you to call NCV at (603) 334-0700 and ask them that you are now US citizen and want to update your immigration status, they most probably ask you to submit the copy of your citizenship certificate along with DS-230 form.

P.S. you may ask question in PM.

Re: Spouse Visa

Ya 7 months. Is it too late or too early? Its just the petition got approved, not visa issuance if that's what you mean. I'll pm you.
