Re: SPOILERS of DRAMAS based on novels
Not one bit! the novel is a cliched piece of crap full of stereotypes portraying independent, working women like Fareeda as inherently cold and evil and never letting any chance slip by of rubbing their westernization and independence in the reader’s face as totally undesirable. Plus the story is weak, there are no original dialogues and the characters are all one note. I would give the drama credit ironing out some of these glaring flaws by giving a backdrop to Farida’s actions (Baseerat threatening to divorce her) and not because she is inherently evil (westernized, liberated etc etc). Hats off to writers like Farhat Ishtiaq (and a lot of the Khawateen Diagest brigade) for being the perfect mouthpieces of primitiveg patriarchal values and ensuring that the women of Pakistan remain in the 17th century for a long, long time to come.
