Split one day international

I think this format of the game is quite workable. What do you guys think?

Re: Split one day international

interesting..

Re: Split one day international

ODI will soon die in next two to five years. T20 and Test are going to stay as NZ former Martin Crowe said.

He wants a NFL type of knockout Test contest every year.

Re: Split one day international

it will become a glorified version to T/20. Two T/20 in one match. :hmmm:

Re: Split one day international

This is a bad try on baseball model. kawwa chala hans ki chaal...

Re: Split one day international

Or a 25 over per innings test match…

Re: Split one day international

:hmmm:
means pak can do better in this split format :jhanda:

Re: Split one day international

^haha......yeah atleast we can last 25 overs easily in 'suitable' conditions.

Re: Split one day international

Well, according to cricinfo the feedback they are getting isn't good. This idea of getting rid of boring middle over has flopped once again. And they don't see this idea being implemented at the international level. IMO it was a bad idea to begin with.

Re: Split one day international

the ICC must be the worst sports governing body in the entire world. absolutely clueless.

imo, test cricket will die as time goes by. the concept of 5 days of cricket is beyond retarded. there is no way this game can last. I might check the scorecard but I certainly don't watch test cricket. can't see why anyone would go watch this snail paced game. this game is already dead in the subcontinent. the only countries keeping test cricket alive are England/Australia in terms of crowd attendance.

in odis, the overs need to be reduced to 35 or 40 per side. forget about the split innings which will only make it two T20s in one. the middle overs are certainly annoying but the bigger problem is the lack of balance between bat and ball. ideas like free hit after a no-ball, powerplays, etc are absolutely retarded. the whole point of cricket is real fast bowlers. they shouldn't be muzzled. they should be encouraged. you make the game an even battle between bat and ball, you will get the express pacers back into the game and that will lift the game.

Re: Split one day international

Test cricket may look like a boring format, but that is really is true cricket. There is no substitute to it.
Yes, it may not be suitable for championships. Hence the room for one-day or T20. But test cricket really tests k kaun kitne paani mein he.

Re: Split one day international

How about having IPL format but instead of T20 we have ODI's. Would it work? Or should it be reduced to 40 overs per side. Leagues from other countries should be advertised and telecasted well, like leagues in soccer.

I think international cricket itself is getting really boring. These days I don't even care whether India win or looses. With the money involved players tend to play better cricket. International cricket should be kept to a minimal. Only important series like Ashes, Asia cup, etc. should be played. This way the cricket world cup actually gain much more attention. Also with player from different countries playing in different leagues would help build friendship and better understanding between the cricketing nations.

This is just my opinion. Open to criticism.
