A cousin’s marriage is at the verge of divorce thanks to a Pir.Cousin’s sister in law is the authoritative one at the house. She believes in a pir very strongly. And the pir believes the cousin needs to be sacrificed to ward of evils.:aq:
And oh yea. Once on our way back from our hometown, we came across a place of a popular pir. We stopped there for snacks etc and my phupho went in to see whats up there.
Pir Sahab was laying stark naked and some 5-6 women were all around him, some massaging his legs, others massaging arms.
I believe in those spiritual healers or amils who really help people but they are not many. I know someone whose tumour was cured by a religious healer.
It's very easy for people to blame evil things like jinn , bhoot jadoo tona on everything that is going on wrong in their lives. It's true that black magic exist. It can not be denied. But I know someone who even blamed his diarrhoea on jadoo. now that's stupidity.
The case that you have mentioned is a perfect example of jahalat. why does the bahu needs to get divorced , why doesn't the SIL takes divorce to save her house from evils. Where is the your cousin's husband ? I am sure he is the main culprit , why because he can not protect his wife and is a a lalu ! the SIL is only using all this as an excuse to get rid of her bhabi.
LOL. Have you read/heard of the book, Blasphemy, by Tahmina Durrani? It's based upon a true story and deals with how corrupt some peers in Pak can be...their hypocrisies. Your post brought the book to mind. Anyhow in the book, there was a story about how two women had visited the Peer with the concern that they didn't have any children yet. Both women became pregnant soon after....one had a daughter and the other had a son. The kids grow up and fall in love and want to get married. The Peer forbids the marriage, giving some illogical reason. The real reason was that the boy and girl were brother and sister because the Peer had slept with both the women.
Not too long ago, someone had posted a youtube video containing a brief documentary on black magic in Pakistan. And ironically, it's the educated people who fall into this trap more often than the poor....because the latter can't afford it.
Agree with Diamond. While divorce is allowed...it is used as a last resort. What kind of Peer (one who believes in Islam)would encourage divorce as a "sacrifice".....and that too to ward off "evils." To ward off evils, you can recite the 3 Quls/Ayatul Kursi, etc. I think if people (in this case the SIL) were to use their common sense and reflect over the very basic teachings of Islam...they'd realize that the Peer's advice goes against those teachings...and he's just a fraud.
^RV what I find amazing is that she wants her bhabi to give sacrifice .......why doesn't she herself takes divorce to ward off evil and give a mahan sacrifice for her family.
I agree with reading 3 Quls , you can also read Manzil everyday to keep yourself & your house safe from evils.

OMG..That is so disgusting. Peers sleeping with women is common. Why on earth does a woman allow them to touch her in the first place really?
My cousin's husband is a robot in his sister's hands since she brought him up. The peer thinks she is..what..ominous for them? Err.. I hate them. They have made a young girl psycho. Damn those peers.

Why would she put HERSELF through a divorce? How will she find the means to support herself and her family? She knows how much of a stigma divorce is for women in Desi culture. It's easier for her to imagine another woman going through it instead of her. Human nature is selfish. But we do have the ability to snap out of our idiotic thinking. In her case, apart from the selfishness and jahalat, she also seems to lack a conscience. Hopefully the realization will kick in before she incurs some real serious damage to others and herself.
The Peer said that a sacrifice is needed. She is the follower of peer not jalpari's cousin and she should be the one who should give sacrifice. But from jalpari's last post I am assuming that she has raised her baby brother (who is not physically a baby anymore but mentally is ) and I think she is not married. Here the SIL=MIL. She just wants to have complete control over her brother and it's just a tactic that she is using or she is just jealous of her bhabi. Very typical.......I have been there I know.
I don't think realisation will kick in not atleast from her may be from her brother.
Yea SIL isnt married. Peers ask for sacrifices. sometime ago, a news was in that a couple in Karachi slaughtered their kids to ward off evil spirits on a peer's advice.
Peer-Faqeer's, Mazaar's, Dargaah's etc. are just ways of making money from the stupid and gullible...
We had a family friend who use to take great big expensive offerings to the Dargaah/Mazaar for the hattey kattey healthy able-bodied but lazy, greedy, leaching chelay or malang at the Dargaah...
...Stupid gullible people like our friend are an easy way of making money for these cunning Peer/Chelay/Malang who are too lazy to work and would rather abuse/perve over women/boys, get free tours around the world and a good source of income.
I do believe in faith healing and I believe the Book of Alllah (Quran) is very powerful but we can benefit from it by simply reciting it over the sick or those affected by hidden-spirits (jinn) or witchcraft (sihr)...
...There is no need for Aamil's, Peer's, Faqeer's and their stupid rituals which they themselves have invented...
Allah is the one who heals, not some so-called holy men.
These Peers/Aamils are like the Roman Catholic Church when it comes to making money out of religion.

Also, who is pure enough to see what a sinful eye doesn't? There must be a handful, but do they beat drums about it? Shouldn't they be busy in their own conquest?
I believe spiritual healing hasn't got much to do with religion, atleast it's not dependant on it. Every human is blessed with the power to heal and be healed irrespective of his religious beliefs...and also that Allah never asks for any "sacrifices" in return for a favor...He doesn't need it. I believe in Reki and educated Muslim healers as well...the notorious fake pirs have totally defamed the word pir itself..
