Though much of blame was on inclusion of Sami but today WI played 2 spinners (bowlers, not all-rounders) while SL played 4 spinners (2 bowlers 2 all rounders) and WI came out winners. WI batsmen played spin much better then our nincompoop top-order who were clueless who to tackle spin.
We can analyze, over-analyze but the team selection was in question as soon as it was announced i.e 4 pacers and no proper-spinner-bowlers???
Afridi keeps crying that he is a bowler but every single time he comes ahead of many batsmen/all-rounders so he should not be considered a bowler.
WI came out winners because at par score on that particular pitch is 170... Remember even Afghanistan made 170+ against SA..and SL, like Pakistan just managed to score 120+... Which was never enough..
Its a good question. I think its all as per conditions. So far in this WC I havent seen a single fast track. Like we saw in BD at Asia cup, there were bouncy wickets which was a surprise. So first of all, you hv to cap your fast bowlers count to 2. Nothing more. Then since its a 20 over game , you need 3 or 4 more bowlers. Considering Pakistani batting inconsistency I've been saying this in almost each thread. We dont need Wahab Riaz right now, nor Sami. Very unfortunately we dont have a pro spinner so just include Emad and Nawaz. They can prove to be swift hitters as well batting in the last few overs.
I strongly think we should have either Zulfiqar baba ji or a pro offspinner. I'm not ready to believe that we dont have a good offspinner at all. Its just our pathetic selection committee doesnt pick the right players other than their beloved ones.
The spin generated by Ashwin and Jadeja was in feet while Malik and Afridi could do only a few inches and that too accompanied with improper pitching / wrong line.
We definitely need Nawaz or Imad instead of Sami so we can have a choice/variety.
