Spicy layered biryani

Re: Spicy layered biryani

The taste must have been close to Hyderabadi style biryani, no? The yogurt gives it that extra kick.

Re: Spicy layered biryani

I've never used the yogurt layering method before but it sounds very nice (that's bcos I love yogurt and I love the sweetish taste of dark fried onions).

Inshallah Mr Halwa will make it sometime after Eid and I will report back.

Hareem, your biryani also looked scrumptious.

Chicken and masals being cooked.

The main difference between my and others recipe is that I do not add oil when I cook the chicken and masalas. I add the oil from the fried onion at the end at layering stage. Yogurt and chillies are cooked by simmering.

But please do not buy american or italian easy cook rice. They are horrible. Only easy cook basmati rice which available in super market - Sainsburys, TESCO or ASDA.

that looks yummylicious hareem

Re: Spicy layered biryani

quick question morstar bhai. Ive never known anyone who puts yoghurt in the rice (when layering) for biryani.. how does that help?? Your rice looks yum.. but a little lumpy.. is that cuz of the yoghurt|? I mean what does the yogurt do?

oh and i remember thsi one time you shared the recipe of the MOST amazing pulao.. and it turned out very good for me. So I'm sure ur biryani tastes great too.. just wanting to know wat the yogurt does..

Re: Spicy layered biryani

reads/looks/seems phantastik! too much effort for me though!

Most biryanies at wedding and other cremonies contain yogurt.

I think it avoids dryness in biryani.
