spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

hi girls , i have been a regular visitor of this forum and i have read that most of the girls are willing to pay huge amounts like 40 to 50k for bridal makeups .. dont you think this is too much ? are they going to change your face forever.. i think a good makeup artist can make you looks like a doll within 10,000 if he or she knows his or her job well.
but paying this amount is ridiculous ..what do you say ?

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

I think even paying 10,000 is ridiculous when in the end the desi bride emerged as looking like a clown.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

I think 10,000 rupees is perhaps the cheapest rate you'll get in the bigger cities for bridal makeup these days. If that's what the makeup artist is charging, chances are she isn't very well known. In that case, it depends on how trustworthy she is to you. If you like her work, sure go ahead and book her. Of course you don't have to go the fancy salons.

The advantage of booking a reputable makeup artist is that they are known to be good at what they do and you can trust them not to make you look like a clown. They don't do the aata face makeup like some mohallay k salons do. That said, I wouldn't spend more than 30k on makeup.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

but my after all this , i have seen girls dont like these high end makeup artists work too. i have seen girls cursing sabs , mona j , allenora , even ather shehzad on this forum..
i guess it is really pathetic to spend too much

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

It IS too much. But that's just the standard price these days.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Thing is, if a MUA is good then they know people will be willing to pay more for their talents. That's probly how they seperate themselves from the MUAs that are not as well known.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Everyone has different priorities when it comes to their wedding. Your above statements can also be said about bridal outfits, expensive venues, expensive decorations....almost everything related to a wedding.

If a bride is willing to pay 50K to a make-up artist who she believes will give her the look she wants for her wedding, and the bride can afford to pay that.....then who are we to say that it's "too much" or "ridiculous". Its her face, her wedding, her money (or in many cases, her parents money which they're willing to spend on their daughter).

I don't think there's anything wrong with a bride who chooses a affordable make-up artist OR even does her own make-up (as the case with many non-desi brides). On the flip side, if someone has the money, and is willing to hire a more expensive vendor, then I don't think anyone should be passing judgments on her either.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

i guess different brides have different priorities. the most popular makeup artist for pakistani brides here charges $500 for makeup and hair yet she's always booked because brides know they will be in good hands. in some cases, you really get what you pay for.
also, i think its important to remember that although your makeup doesn't last forever, your pictures certainly will!

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Also, it doesn't only include makeup, it includes some pre-bridal services including a full body wax at some places, hair styling, dupatta setting etc.... if the complete package costs about 30k, I wouldn't mind paying that much. Like Sahar said, it's just the standard price these days.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

It's the norm now'a days.. It seems to be a very regular & basic thing to do... To get bridal makeup & pay that ridiculous amount. But then again it all comes down to that one equation - that it is your 'big' day after all, you don't have it every other day..

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

well i think the biggest reason is the quality of work provided ... see i have been in both places .. i went to cheaper places charging 10k and i have gone to a high end place charging over the top for a one night make up ... the quality of make up used .. brands ... how they use it .. do they consider your skin tone or do they try one base and if it doesnt look good do they go for another ... etc etc etc

see my wedding will be the biggest day of my life .. i cant compromise on looking cakey .. on my engagement i went to a normal salon and paid a very reasonable price .. eventually she rubbed a stick foundation on my face .. yukh .. i looked weird but thankfully the pictures turned out great and it was a candle light setup so i didnt have to cry over it.... oh she did knw her make up .. she made m eyes look gorgeous and knew her techniques but i was still sorry at the end of the day

pt is .. if i wana be the highlight of the evening .. i need the best of the best .. and i would pay a big amount to achieve that.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Agree with everything Paheli said..

Why is there a need to judge ppl on how they choose to spend their own money?

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

i dont think ther is anything with paying that amount but only if the work is also of a high standrd :)

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

 30K - 50K for jst make up … :hayaa:

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

yes i am trying to say the same thing... i have seen girls cursing the MUA artist like bina khan , ANAM , sabs , depilex even after paying a huge amount of money ...also they didnot give proper attention to them , then why not take your cosmetics to a reasonable artist and ask her to do the makeup.. it will be more economical.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Obsession said it best. :k:

A decade ago (2001) to be exact an HSY completely custom bridal cost 2.5 lakhs , these days it’s starts from 5 and beyond. So prices aren’t what they were.I’m sure 30-50 will be a laughable amount in a few years the way things are going.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

i think anam is quite reasonable..just 14500/rs

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

here in london some charge over £1000 for bridal make-up! £500 seems to be normal!

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

Yes..this is way too much. I ve been practicing differentmakeup techniques sine last few years and i did my own makeup on my engagement. I'd rather get some good makeup products from my wishlist for these 50k then spending them over my bridal makeup. Thank God i m pretty good at it.

Re: spending 30k to 50k on one night makeup??

yes , that what i think .. when Kate middleton can do her own wedding day makeup , when she could hire the best makeup artist of the world then why cant we girls ?
