I remember back in the early 90s when NTM/STN was new in Pakistan, iftar coincided with the 7:30 PM cartoons that would show on NTM. What would end up happening would be a iftar with a khajoor and a quickie of chaat and samosay, lightning speed wudu and 30 second maghrib, all in time to make it to the cartoon without missing any precious screentime.
Taraveeh would be 8 rakaa’ts and then cricket in the masjid’s lawn.
Jumma salat would be standing in the back row and tickling / hitting / bumping the kids next to you soon as everyone went into rukoo.

If you were in that kind of rush, why would you not go for Wudu before Iftar? Would have saved you precious seconds. :D

Yes, blasphemous i know, but kids will be kids.
Not blasphemous for innocent little kids. I love the term speed salaat. :)

Kids will be kids , they do not think that way. I do that now when I have my own kids and keep them reminding the same.
lol
speed salat. I still do it some time.
LOL , it is ok for kids but for grown ups , khushoo and khuzooh is mandated for Salaat. Remember that please. :D
i remember one time i was maybe 11/12 and me my mum and sisters would always read numaz together, and one of my sisters used to nugde my sister who would then start laughing real hard which annoyed my mum
This is when I was really little but when my dad use to go into "sajda" I use to go sit on his back. He did realllly long sajdaay back then.
All of us cousin use to whisper things to each other in "rukoo" instead of paying attention like "check out that aunti's feet hair or something" and start giggling.
Thanks for sharing your stories guys. All cracking me up :-D And I remember the muffled giggling : )
Wifey tells me about her brother who used to go steal everyone's caps when people went into sajda.
Then a story i heard recently about these kids who would turn on all the fans in the masjid at full blast when everyone went into sajda and then turn them all off completely the next rakat/sajda. After a while people in the front who could not take this anymore turned around and let loose some really explicit language soon as they did the salaam.
Just yesterday my bhabhi was praying salat and her 3 year old joined in, mimicing her every move. Which meant everytime my bhabhi would cough the little one would cough too. : )
haha u reminded me of my childhood…this mimick/cough bit is something i’d done when i was a kid and it had really annoyed my brother who at the time had a sore throat, cough and all..i wanna be a kid again:teary1:

That's what my 1 1/2 year old daughter does quite often, copying my moves during Namaz. She doesn't even want to use her own little prayer mat but stands on mine, next to me.
aah nostalgic! the NTM cartoons were sure a cartoon heaven back then..those 30 mins of cartoon time were like a dream come true after what we normally had , 5 mins on PTV at 04.40pm
I haven't spent my childhood in Pakistan, so I wouldn't know about that. But I told my wife about this thread and she went all nostalgic about the NTM cartoons too. :)
