on another point I was listening to the news today and the reporter was saying that most games today, including hockey were played with virtually empty stadiums. What is the reason for that? lack of interest or high ticket prices?

I believe it's the high ticket price and the Indian economic boom which demands labour 24/7 people dont get time offwork to see the games and those that can afford the tickets are obviously making the profits too.... :(
But i think it's very unfair majority of Indians should be given a chance to enjoy the show.... but alas one wishes and hopes for the best.

The low attendance is not due to ticket prices or overworked Indians. The primary reasons are :
- Athletics are not very popular in India. Unfortunately there is no sports culture.
- Bad publicity in the press.
Mamakidua,
Bollywood represents only minuscule part of Indian culture, so I am grateful that it was largely ignored.

The youtube clip you posted was only 13 minute part of the ceremony. The whole event lasted for more than 3 hrs. Check out my post #29. Even this is not complete, but I will post the best parts later.

oh wow just from the pictures the ceremony looks amazing, thank god they had dancers from every region, no wonder i felt like something was missing and the ceremony seemed so short from that 13 min youtube video i posted

They better not bid for Olympics. They looted 60000 crores in 2010. They will loot 120000 crores in 2020. We could have put all this money to such good use instead of catering to the middle class's ego.
