The South African cricketers have decided to pay tributes to the late Hansie Cronje in a unique way. They have requested their cricket Board and the International Cricket Council to allow them to wear an emblem depicting the late national captain’s face on their team jerseys during the 2003 World Cup that will be played in South Africa.
Cronje, who was trying to come out of the stigma attached to him by the life ban slapped on him by the South African cricket Board, died in plane crash some time ago.
A senior member of the South African team told CricketNext.com, “He was trying to come back to normal world before he met a cruel end. We want the world to remember him not for one mistake but for all the good qualities he had. He was a wonderful human being, a good cricketer and a great captain. South Africa would be on world stage during the mega event and we want cricket fans to remember Hansie in a positive manner.”
i really loved his leadership skills. for some reason after him there’s not that much firepower (or something) left in the SA team.
