Personal items....cosmetics, grooming products...visit bath and body works, body shop. You will get some great deals.

From the experince of my recent trip of US. Iwould advise you to vist the reasonably priced and famous chain stores there, which have evrything under one roof and, by visiting those stores you can get an idea about what you need and what not..Stores Like Marshalls, Roft, Cosco, Target, Best Buy (for electronics), Home goods (for home applinces) Wall Mart (thoug I didnot check it out ) and many more, america is full of those wher you can get he brandd stuff at reasonably prices, you can ask your host to take thses type of stores, america is stuffed with).For high end brands stuff like makeup, shoes, bags, clothing etc etc..you can visit outlet malls too, where you can find all the best designers/famous brands ( like Coach, Michael Kors, bare minerals, sehora) etc too at at very reasonable prices ,depending upon what you want :)...thers you can bu y the stuff at very reasonable prices as thers always a Sale/discounted racks etc, so check those first

I was from pak so I bought, paintings, bags, makeup..household stuff and electronic gadgets too at very reasonable prices one cannot imagine to get in Pak... though I went only to California State (Sacramento, Davis, Sandiego, San Francisco, fremont) and cancelled my Texas trip/Huston at the last mint so cannot say about texas but I know you can find these there too as thses chain stores are located/ found in every state/cities etc ...

PS : Well from my experience I can say that YES EVERYTHING IS AVAILABLE IN PAK BUT AT A MUCH HIGHER PRICES THEN YOU CAN EASILY GET FROM THERE at Sales etc and that too for orignsl stuff and you wouldnot b cheated by copie..as the stuffare available at sale price/ easily affordable prices... and ofcoure we are just giving the idea about shopping as per the request...

I would only buy and take along any favourite khanay peenay wala stuff because electronics,household items,shoes,bags,etc can be ordered online and delivered and if that’s not an option, I wont still care because I guess every city/country has almost everything required for a decent living..Eeven in Pakistan,sub kuch milta hai ; jo nai milta, uskay baghair zindagi guzr jati hai araam se Alhamdulillah :smiley: I would rather use my time is sight seeing and travelling to visit as many places as possible instead of wasting in malls and shopping..but then,maybe it’s just me :slight_smile:

Thanks a lot my dear guppas for your inputs. I alao want to tour around proto but my husband is here for exam so cant help it but we would be going out insha'Allah on weekend. We may go to huston. I have been to Outlet Mall in San Marco (probably) and just browse around with my bhabi, as she has to visit Pakistan right after we will leave so she was shopping from GAP etc. I saw all branded shops Micheal Kors, CK, Coach etc but I can get that stuff from Australia too. However yesterday went to TJ max and brought shoes and hand bag on clearance as shoes are not that good in Australia and hand bag was way too cheap :D
Im planning to go to Bed, Bath and beyond here is some great clearance over Noritake dinner sets and im very keen to buy that. I also have to buy some kitchen items like dishwashing liquid dispenser as seriously I have not been able to get it in Australia (the good stylish ones). Most goods in Australia are also from China so its not my concern that which country is manufacturing rather the things im looking for is my interest that I may not find in Australia. As far as I could have compare prices are almost same except some of the things like Noritake dinner set. I may go to Macy's and would go again to Homegoods as just could only look around yesterday.
We dont have starbucks in australia so i had coffee from there as I wrote in household forum im a coffee lover (not black though). Electronic appliances are available in Australia too and the other thing even if i like i wil not take as our sockets are different and its a pain to but the travel adapter for it so better avoid.
Thanks a lot all for your inputs. And yes chocolates variety is more in my Aussie land than US

isnt san antonio popular for fudge? i was there last year or so and remember eating a lot of it. you could take 5 lbs of it home and give it to people as valayti burfee, its sweet enough for desi tastes..

San Antonio has a lot of Mexican goods from across the border if you're interested. I remember the Macy's I went to was quite thaka hua compared to the ones on the east coast.

if you are a coffee lover then you will find huge variety of machines in Bed Bath and Beyond as well as Macys. (if you have room in your luggage and want one) otherwise You should definetly shop for coffee and can get many different varieties of ground coffee at your local grocery store and target. My personal favourite is Gevalia Espresso Roast, but it depends on your preference. Big grocery store chains have started carrying them, otherwise they are an online website retailer.
