When inviting a family for a dawat , do you consider having special menu for the buzrugs in the family?
If yes, what points do you keep in mind ?

Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
Are they reallllly old?
Do they have health issues such as heart disease, diabetics, gastric problems...
Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
Well , say we dont know in particular what illnesses they might be encountering ... do you still keep certain pointers in mind?
For example, when I know someone old is in the guest list , I ensure the following:
Things like these ... any additions to my list?
Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
Usually the issues are high blood pressure, diabetes and such.
We make sure to make some dishes with low salt, oil and spices.
Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
Yep, as they tend not to like fried foods or western style dishes.
Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
yeah thats an important thing , most buzrugs arent used to western food so they need desi dishes ...
Plus I give them lighter cutlery and crockery ... coz alot of times its hard for them to manage the weight of them... Like my uncle's dad was over and he said the crystal glass was heavy for him , so I gave him a lighter , smaller glass to drink in. Since then I keep this in mind .
We don't have any buzurgs coming to our dawats :(
My friend's mum lives with her,so she is the only one who comes and she is good for her age...(83)..mash'Allah.
Ammi's friends all live quite a ways away from me so I only see them when I go visit her,and they too are all hatta katta...MA,bar some dodgy knees..
I think it's lovely the way you are all aware of their special needs though.I would be too if I could.
Re: Special menu for senior citizens ..
I think most buzurgs look forward to dawats for a chance to cheat on the regular healthy diet regime
I don’t want to take that from them ![]()

This is precisely what my Mom does. She also adds soft fruits for dessert so the elderly need not worry about sugar etc :)
