A great contemporary Islamic scholar and spiritual leader Ash-Shaykh As-Sayyed Muhammad Al-Yaqoobi Al-Hassani was born in Damascus on the 13th of Dhul-Hijja in 1382/1963. He descends from a scholarly family whose lineage goes back to the Holy Prophet (SAW). His father, Ash-Shaykh Ibrahim Al-Yaqoobi (d.1985), was one of the greatest scholars Syria saw in the past 50 years. His father took care of him as his teacher and spiritual master. The Shaykh continued his academic studies at the University of Damascus. He also received a degree in Arabic literature in 1987, and completed a two-year study of Philosophy at the Arab University of Beirut.
Throughout the years of his study, Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoobi went through spiritual training in the Sufi path under his father, a great saint and spiritual leader. Three of his Arabic books have been published, and over 20 works are unpublished yet. Besides, the Shaykh has composed poetry in Arabic and English.
In Sweden, Ash-Shaykh Al-Yaqoobi served the Muslim community as Imam and struggled for the establishment of Islam in the country. In 1999, the Swedish Islamic Society of Stockholm chose him as the mufti of Sweden. Besides preaching in Syria and Sweden, the Shaykh has visited many countries for spreading the light of Islam.
Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoobi was the chief guest at the International Mawlid Conference 2004 arranged by Minhaj-ul-Quran International held in Lahore, Pakistan. The Shaykh attended the meeting at the invitation of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. This was the first visit of the Shaykh to Pakistan.
DVD 1:
The lecture which he delivered at the International Mawlid Conference together with a subsequent one, both on the subject of The Reality of the Prophet’s (SAW) Being and Status, are given in this DVD. A brief report of his visit to the various campuses and institutions of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Lahore is also included.
DVD 2:
During his stay in Pakistan he delivered lectures to the students of The Institute of Classical Islamic Sciences (ICIS), The Minhaj University, Lahore. This is one of those lectures.
