i am agreed your first part of post. To slap or hit the kid in public place or even at home is really not good. What parents think that after spanking him/her will give a very good lesson to him/her? no most of the time i see it goes against the situation. yes but showing anger or madness is diffrent like give a stare to him/her or timeout... etc.
