**Spanish police have arrested 74 people in a major operation to combat the possession of child sex abuse images.**More than 600 police officers were involved in raiding 130 premises across the length and breadth of the country in an operation that took two weeks.
Dozens of laptops, 300 computer hard drives and millions of computer files were seized and are now being analysed, police say.
They made the arrests after tracking more than 2,500 internet connections.
The computer files will be cross-checked with records held by Interpol, in the hope of identifying adults and children who appear in the photographs and videos.
Hardcore material
The 74 detainees are said to include civil servants, students, bank clerks and a teacher.
They were arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing images that show child sex abuse.
One suspect allegedly filmed pornographic material featuring his 13-year-old-niece.
Much of the material seized is said to be of a hardcore nature - the possession of which is punishable in Spain by up to four years in prison.
A further 61 people remain under formal investigation.
