Spacecraft reaches edge of solar system

Hats off to the guys (& gals) behind this feat. Its been going since 1977 (!) and is expected to take another 40,000 years to get to our systems nearest star! Food for thought about the size and magnificence of the universe and the Power behind it.

“The Voyager 1 spacecraft has arrived at the boundary of the solar system and is flying into a region of space that has never been explored before, NASA announced Wednesday.

Reminds me of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, where Voyager one was discovered after 4 centuries, and apparently an extra-terrestial life form encounters it, and gives it the ability to seek knowledge, but the primary function of Voyager I remains the same, to seek knowledge, return to earth and send data to NASA!!! Gene Roddenberry was brilliant!

but most probabaly we won't get be receiving any information from it anymore via radiocontact

Spock, wasn't Voyager 1 found by the borg?

No, if the borg would have found it, they would have sent an assimilation party to earth immediately, but they found out about human beings in the delta quadrant, when Q throws the Enterprise into that expanse. ;)

This is Star Trek I "The Motion Picture" we are talking about, Borgs came way later.
