Yes you heard me right. I will tell you a recipe for the texan style toffee.
Ingredients:
-vegetable PAM spray
-aluminum foil
-cooking sheet
-gram crackers
-2 sticks of butter or one cup of butter
-one cup of brown sugar
-crushed chocolate (any kind will do)
-some nuts.. (your choice but I would prefer walnuts)
Directions:
To make caramel:
-
Take a skillet and add in 2 sticks or one cup of butter.
-
Then add in one cup of brown sugar
-
In low heat keep stirring until it get thick and started to boil
Now prep for toffee: -
take a cooking sheet and cover it with aluminum foil
-
then on aluminum foil spray PAM, first covering all four corners of the sheet/pan then spray in the middle.
-
Make sure to pray properly
-
then take gram crackers and spread one layer all over the cooking sheet
-
take the caramel and pour it on the spread of gram crackers
-
cover the gram crackers with caramel
-
then in preheat oven (325 degree) put that cooking sheet in for about 5-10 minutes or until you see that caramel on the top of gram crackers is boiling up.
-
After 5-10 minutes take it out and make a layer of crushed chocolate
-
Because of the heat of caramel, chocolate will melt instantly
-
then make a layer of any kind of nuts you would like to be, i prefer and recommend walnuts (taste much better)
-
After that you let it cool at room temprature, until you can actually grab the cooking sheet with your hands.
-
Then put it in refrigrator until it becomes solid hard.
-
No DO NOT put in freezer, it will make it worst!
*]later when it gets hard, take it out and break it in small pieces or in any shape u like.
Enjoy!
