Southern CA MUA

I’ve searched this thread–and asked around–and everyone points to the same 1-2 people:

  1. Makeup by Rahot
  2. Nida Ghazi

Though I like their work (especially Nida’s), literally every other girl in the area has their makeup done by her. Does anyone have any more recommendations? I tried looking up makeupbyLishma and myfairbride and their pictures weren’t very impressive. I like very “typical” desi wedding makeup–more on the dramatic side so it’s hard just contacting someone from online that isn’t desi.
Anyone know of any MAC artists that are pretty good with this type of look?

thanks

Re: Southern CA MUA

What’s wrong with going to someone other people go to as well? Isn’t that testament to how good they are? Plus, if they’re any good, you won’t look like an assembly-line bride.

Have you checked here? http://www.southasianbridemagazine.com/vendors/

Re: Southern CA MUA

try dressyourface in LA

Re: Southern CA MUA

I looked her up and apparently she doesn't travel to your venue to do makeup for bridals. And she's....$700. I didn't realize how expensive MUA were. :S

Re: Southern CA MUA

Have you checked Oscar at Ziba's in Artesia? He travels

Re: Southern CA MUA

Do you happen to have pictures of real brides that he's done makeup for? The problem with most of these artists is that the pictures on their website are horrendous or they don't update their facebook groups very often so i have very little to go by. Did anyone you know use him?

Re: Southern CA MUA

I’m not sure if Oscar has a group on facebook, but here is his personal page. The page is public so you can see his pictures. Facebook

Re: Southern CA MUA

I know many brides that have used him and his work is great!

Re: Southern CA MUA

I'll look at this, thanks! So far it's a toss up between Rahat and Nida G.

Re: Southern CA MUA

Has anyone seen real brides/worked with Beauty by Linda Chiriac? I stumbled upon her instagram account and I am IMPRESSED. Anyone know how much she charges?

Re: Southern CA MUA

Linda does a great job. I would recommend her. I believe her bridal is $700-800 but I'm probably wrong. She's very friendly so you should shoot her a message.

Re: Southern CA MUA

I messaged her and heard back from her!She sounds REALLY sweet! She's able to do dupatta setting and stuff? She said yes but I remember a horror story with one of my friends where the MUA said she could and did it TERRIBLY. My friend looks horrible in her pics because she was all stiff trying to keep that thing on her head. :S

Re: Southern CA MUA

^ trial!!!

Re: Southern CA MUA

^ Oscar is pretty good, i've personally seen brides done by him (just this past weekend!) and they don't look OTT.

Farah (myfairbride) is also really good and popular (i think she is in Inland Empire), even though her website it outdated.

Nida is also good, but like you said a lot of people use her.

I'm not too sure about Rahot, as I got a trial from her for my wedding and it looked like something my little sister could have done.

Farhana from the Bay area is also really good and popular. I believe she worked at MAC as well.

MAC artists can also do great desi bridal looks. just print pictures of looks you like and get trials done beforehand. Thats what i did :)

Re: Southern CA MUA

She does an excellent job with hair! I recall that she didn't do the dupatta setting for my friend, but I'm sure by now she's learned. Confirm with her if you can. She travels to you as well.

Re: Southern CA MUA

I’ve just come across her IG as well.. Am shocked she isn’t more well-known and mentioned here after seeing her pics..

Re: Southern CA MUA

Yeah I recognized brides that I know/have seen before that she’s done. It’s mostly because 1-2 people have a monopoly on the market here since they’re closely associated with the desi community so they know the brides and stuff. She’s on the higher end of pricing too so that could also be why.

Re: Southern CA MUA

Piggy-backing off this:

I booked Nida by now I’m starting to have doubts. Anyone with experience with her have anything to say about her hair skills? Her makeup was amazing for my trial but I’m not pleased with the hair at all (to be fair she said she doesn’t do full hair trials so it was just kind of to show me how it would look with the type of part I wanted).

And a general question with makeup artists in general, if I absolutely HATE what they do with my hair (like I’m starting to look like a drag queen) is it bad and totally unacceptable to have them fix it?

Re: Southern CA MUA

You can try makeupbylilit or get your hair made by her mom.

Re: Southern CA MUA

I follow her on instagram and like her work; do you have personal experience with her?
