Thanks for translation.

Do these languages got common vocabulary. As being Sindhi, I can understand Punjabi, Saraik, Hindko to good extent as these got common vocabulary.

Re: South Indians! help needed

only word common with telugu from above sentence is dhairam which is a sanskrit word

kannada, malayalam, tamil, tulu have some similarities, all come from same souther dravidian branch, tamil being pure dravidian language and other two mix with lot of sanskrit words

telugu belongs to central dravidian, from what i heard telugu has highest number of sanskrit words then any other languages in the word even more then some of the aryan languages ,it has similar script to kannada but language is defferent, you find lot of loan words from tamil in telugu which are mostly spoken in bodering districts between two states

Re: South Indians! help needed

Interesting. so Tamil movies got bigger market than the areas it is spoken?

Re: South Indians! help needed

:hehe: the world will never be the same after this thread.

Re: South Indians! help needed

because of lot immigrants in singapore, malayasia and other south east asian countries, tamil films gets dubbed in telugu not every film though but few heros have their own market in telugu, they also release in kerala not sure about popularity, but from local indian market and in usa telugu film industry is bigger then tamil

60 percent of movie halls are in south india and majority are in andhra pradesh where telugu is spoken, hyderabad-secudendrabad alone has like 150-200 theatres.you won't find movie fanatics and hero worshipping in andhra then anywhere else in india, but movie quality wise tamil movies are much better then telugu movies atleast the small budget movies, big masala movies are almost same in both the languages..
and to your original question market in non tamil speaking areas nope not even close to bollywood, except maybe in kerala even in telugu they have to dub into telugu language and only few selected tamil movies gets accepted in mainstream telugu land

Re: South Indians! help needed
