and then move to phase 2 which lasts until you achieve your goal weight…

on phase 1, my sample menu used to be as follows:
breakfast: vegi scrambles eggs and a cup of V8
snack: red pepper strips with baingan bharta
lunch: 2 shami kababs (dry fried on a non-stick frying pan coated with olive oil spray) and 1 cup dahi ka raita with cucumbers, onion, tomatoe, green chillies and cilantro...
snack: 20 boiled peanuts
dinner: a bowl of daal and a piece of desi fry fish (pan fried again with a tsp of oil)...

also, did you incorporate exercise into your routine?

and...what about chai? thats one thing i cannot live without!

no nabz, I kept on rotating my menu every single day following the allowed food list and guidelines...I get bored rather easily:) some other good chioces that I like are hummus with celery sticks, different variations of chana chaat (without potatoes of course), qeema kababs, salads, cashews, sauted cauliflowers, grilled shrimp and red peppers...the list just goes on ...and if you like peanut butter or any kinds of cheeses, they are allowed too...I just not big fan of either of those...
Yes, I did incorporate exercise too..5 days a week...nothing fancy though, cause it tends to get hard to find time with work and kids...so what I did was got a couple of exercise dvds from my local library...I started with 30 minutes a day and now I'm upto 2 30-minutes sessions...I kept on rotating exercises too ...one day the dvd, one day treadmill, one day wii fit and jump rope, one day another exercise dvd and the fifth day I used to target a specefic problem area (arms, thighs for me!!)

I no big fan of chai but occasionally I need coffee...You can have your chai twice a day, although with splenda and skimmed milk or fat free half n half or fat free carnation (depending on your preference) ...

Ruby how did you make the baingan bharta, also can you specify with daal, do you give it some tarka?or just plain boiled daal?

well about baingan bharta, i roast whole eggplants directly on the stove flame...cool to touch and then peel the skin and chop the flesh...mix in it little bit of chopped onion, tomato, green chillies, bhuna zeera, chopped dhaniya, salt and yougurt and mix well...
about daal, I prepared it for dinner for family...so what i did was that a boiled daal (mixture of daals and spices), prepared tarka in a pan...pour 2 servings worth of daal in a big bowl, baghaar rest of the daal, and then pour a litlle bit of my daal into the baghar pan and stir to get the leftover flavors of the baghar and then pour daal back with rest of MY daal...in this way, I get the flavors of tarka without the extra oil...
