Well, ‘bless you’ is bless you…Muslims say because it means “Praise be to Allah” which is something very unique to Muslims and Islam, something like a patent…

Same with Salam…You can say hello, which is just that, a greeting…However is not only a greeting but a prayer with good wishes for the person you are meeting and it means, “Peace be with you”…Something very unique to Muslims and followers of the Holy Prophet :saw:…

There are hundreds of small things which are unique to Islam and Muslims, and me being a Muslim, am very proud of them…Wouldn’t give them up for anything…

So, you’d be ok with someone saying literally “Peace be upon you” as their greeting? As in the Arabic translated right into English?

You know how many people get wound up by that.

I’m telling you - it doesn’t have to do with the meaning. It has to do with the language. My friend could easily have told me to say whatever the heck he said in Arabic in English, instead, and it should be the same thing. The insistence is upon using Arabic.

And its not my darn language! People need to accept that and move on with their lives.

Arabs are literally the most intolerant people ever. They don’t want to spread Islam. They’re trying hard to protect their culture from dying at the moment, what with all the change the oil boom has brought to them. These are cultural wars you’re seeing today. Islam is just being dragged in for no reason.
