Re: South Africa

There is absolutely no argument about the beauty of this place but there are a lot of other things that one must consider when moving in there for a period of 2/3 years. Trust me, it’s not that easy. Security is the main concern. Jo-berg, the crime capital of Africa.
I have been there more than a few times and being a kind of person who enjoys walk and driving both when at a new place, i felt my freedom restricted. Driving was ok (though much idiotic than what you see in pak) but walking around has never been safe at all. Even a tourist place like capetown is full of dark spots.
I am not discouraging any one at all and it is a place worth visiting but there is some information about do's and dont's that one must have before landing in there. The golden rule is "Always keep your eyes

Re: South Africa

I would be living in Johanusberg (I sense that I'm not spelling it right)

Re: South Africa

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Re: South Africa

I have lots of friends from SA.

They love live and die for SA and say nothing will ever beat living in SA. They say you have to be street smart though, crime is a big issue as is security.

However your husband has been there for a few years now right so he will have learnt all the tips and tricks of survival and you will pick them up too.

SOme of the positive things my friends say about SA is the community feel and very friendly people in general, the large desi community who they find to be friendly and moderate and the beauty and nature!

Re: South Africa

Thanks inspiron - feels a little better hearing that

Re: South Africa

It is spelled Johannesburg. Didnt get initially that your husband was there so in that case i am sure you should not be having any problem at all. Like i mentioned earlier that the golder rule is to keep your eyes open and your husband should be well aware of it. There are always areas where one should not go and he can also tell you about that. As far as community is concerned, you will find a lot of Desies there and even grocery is also not a big problem.

PS: i didnt mean to scare you at all, was just trying to give you a clear picture :-)

Re: South Africa

I've been there plenty of times. KayZ pretty much covered the main things about Johannesburg. The place is amazing otherwise. Loads of places to visit all over the country and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. The community is very strong (Asian and Muslim) so you shouldn't have any problems socialising and making friends.
