Yes the same is the case with batting. You can’t rely on Yousaf /Inzi to score the runs all the time. The othr jokers also need to score and really make it as a team effort.

The other dilemma is whether to:

• retain Hafeez and Farhat as openers and bat Hameed at 6 or
• drop Hafeez, try Hameed and Farhat as openers and play Asim Kamal at 6

I like this option too but with Hafeez, Pakistan have the second spinner and #5 bowler so I don’t think they’ll drop Hafeez. I would love to see Asim Kamal at #6 too as he is the grinder in team. However, that is not going to happen. Yousuf will come instead of Faisal. Nazir will make way for Shoaib and Sami will come in for Rana. That’s what I believe, though Sami is useless too.

Btw guys, there is only 1 spinner in the team and that is Kaneria. Pakistan did not take Abdul Rahman for the test series. He’ll likely feature in the ODI. So no chances of Kaneria being dropped, it’s like a monopoly for him.

Pakistan did not make enough runs in the first innings. That’s where they lost the game. 313 all out from a position of 183-2 is just not good enough at this level.

Bingo, the first innings collapse cost us the match. Right now simply put, the problem is there are too many passengers in the team. Just a couple of individuals carrying the bowling and a couple of players carrying the batting. This is a team game, and against a side like South Africa you need everyone to contribute.

^ Adding to the comment above, we should be proud of the spine shown by this team. Yes we threw a very good position away in the first innings but we bowled well VERY big lead to a good one and then our tailenders showed a lot of grit.

So all is not lost and come next match we will be better prepared, inshaAllah.

Yes our premier players will be back but I still have my doubt about the openers (Farhat and Hafeez) they have to put up a good/decent partnership 60/70+ to lay the platform and I hope next time around the middle order (Younis, Yasir and the rest) will pick a ball to hook/pull rather than blind hawai jharoo.

Pakistan put up a good fight. Apart from the 6 hookers who turned out to be a bit too expensive for Pakistani standards, everyone else maintained their dignity pretty well. Welcome back Yousuf Shoaib and Gul in game 2.

Also kudos to South Africa.. they put up a decent fight. For me star of the game was Hashim "The T3440R15T" Bio Amla. It is also refreshing to see theyre finally letting more and more black people in their team, especially Steve Bucknor and Billy Doctrove.

chaloo jee .... jub main Pakistan sai chala tha tu Younus and Yasir were batting well in first inning and i thought.....may be....ho sakta hai ..... kash..... but aab USA pohencha hoon tu no ager mager and kash :)
