Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

69/2 at close.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

SA 69-2 at the end of day-4, needing 130 to win. Pakistan needing 8 more wickets.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

:bummer: very doable score for SAffies and our bowlers are not in rhythm plus umpires were in full rhyth in 1st inning sigh I really hope our bowlers can pick up the remaining 8 wickets before they close in on the score.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

southafrica is not out of the woods yet.pakistan still has a good chance if kaneria can get his line and length right.hafeez should be bowled more...hes gonna be a better option than the fast bolwers.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

I myself heard this when Nel ask smith to give him an other overs. During same over he said this.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Though Pakistan chances are at 40% versus SA which is at 60%, but Pakistan chances will be deminished by Billy Doctrove incompetent umpiring, one he doesnt understand spin bowling. If someone is leg spinner then batsman is not LBW on flipper or googly, and for off spinner he may not take into account the speed of the ball. The only way a bowler could get a wicket LBW if batsman stand in front of the wicket after getting hit by the ball, so that Billy could re-run the action reply in his head while batsman is standing there.

So far, I will say both teams played an equal game, the only difference is due to poor umpiring and it went more against Pakistan because most of the SA players got higher recognition than Pakistani counterparts. For example, Ntini and Pollock appeals mean more to Billy than Naveed and Nazir, same will be true for batsmen. Lets hope Pakistan produce clear edges and clean bowled to minimize Billy Doctrove competency.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Hats off to rana, nazir and kaneria for their gritty batting and intelligent hitting. They have given us a sniff and smith dismissal gives us a chance to go all attacking. Great stuff.
when was the last time our tailenders added such important weightage of score?

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

So guyz,,,,first test match result is obvious....again desi players proved their record on bouncy pitches...flattrack bullies.......what about the rest of the series/.....

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Well the tail batted really well no doubt, but that just goes to show how spineless the supposed genuine batsmen were. I don't expect to see this game going much beyond lunch. Wonder who will get the axe, Rana or Nazir?

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

^ If shoaib and Gul are available for the next match than both should get the axe along with Faisal making way for Yousef. Now that will be the team I would like to see against SA.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Nothing suggest flat track bully. first innings Pak players perished to short pitch balls not because of being scared rather being over aggressive unlike Indian. Only Kaneria got out to a sharp bouncer in first inning, others got out to bad selection of shot and being over aggressive. Additionally, there is a huge difference in fielding and running between the wickets along with extras in no balls. If you bring these factors (extras, running between the wickets along with poor fielding) then I should say 104 runs lead with the help of poor umpiring is not a big difference. So both team batsmen sqaured equally.

I would rather credit Pakistan batsmen more since every one chipped in (one of top 6 should have converted in a big total) as compared to SA where only 4 entered in double figures with 3 big scores.... thanks to poor umpiring and Pakistan second string bowling attach.

Imagine SA playing against Asif, Shoaib (for Rana), Gul (for Nazir) and Kaneria supported by Razzaq (for Faisal), and Hafeez and bowling against Farhat, Hafeez, Younis, Yousaf (for Yasir), Inzi, Razzaq.

I think Pakistan can get a lot of positives out of this game and SA should be worry for the series if Umpiring get better and Pakistan gets to full strength.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Why dont ICC (I mean Gwaskar) appoint Billy Doctrove in ODI matches and let Umpires like Simon Taufel and Billy Bowden officiate in Pakistan games. In ODI matches his incompetency may not impact too much.

They dont let him officiate in Aussies games. Not very often in Indian games. Gwaskar is running a conspiracy against Pakistan.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

^^ hold your horses cricketfan, Lets hope that Pakistan will play better tomorrow rather than looking for excuses (yes we have seen -ive approach by gavaskar, okay). Pakistan batters are responisble for the hole they dig, Kudos to Rana, Kaneria and Nazir for getting those precious runs but its the leather luster they are lacking, lets hope they can get Hariss out quickly.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

There is huge difference in Shaoib instead of Rana and Sami instead of Nazir.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Sorry dude if I said anything about your spiritual country mate, but check it out and you should wonder why Billy is for Pakistan.
