Good stuff from Asif.
Let try to keep them from taking a lead.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Kaneria fires it in on the leg, Gibbs makes room outside the leg stump and looks to dig it out, the ball pops up to the right of Younis at 1st slip, they all go up for a catch, the third umpire has been referred to.
out or not????
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Not out
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
*South Africa 212/4

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Why tomorrow - why can't he bowl before the close of play.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
rana economy = 5.2
nazir economy = 5.5
isnt that wonderful for a test match!!!!
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
^ ..yep..that's why Rana is not a test bowler.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
at 238 / 4
If they don't take quick wickets then SA will build a reasonable lead. And hence the match just might go there way. If they build a lead of 100+ Pakistan will be underpressure and I don't think will be able to overcome the setback.
Especially with middle order MoYo replaced by munna faisal.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
You guys can bash Rana and Nazir all you like but to me the bigger disappointment is Danish and he has been such for a while.
Of course we miss Shoaib here but more than him we miss Gul. He was the most inform bowler when he got injured. It would have been wonderful if Gul and Asif complimented each other in this match.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Desperate to break this partnership and to achieve this Farhat is bowling
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
^ that too. Danesh is not improving at all. Yet he is still there.
Does Paksitan have no other leggy in the up and coming talent..?
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
If only we had Gul to support Asif it would have been a different story.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Don't know and even if there was up and coming talent; don't think they would have been selected as part of this tour ................
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
^ yep. Gul and Asif could have torn them apart.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
At stumps 254/4.
SA’s day. With these two at the wicket they still have Boucher to come and could easily build a lead of around 100 tomorrow. We squandered our chances this morning by trying to hook the SA bowlers out of sight. Inzi’s soft dismissal was the signal for Paksitan’s collapse. He played a poor shot.
Let’s hope other bowlers will support Asif tomorrow.
Rana and Kaneria a big :nono:
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
glad i didnt stay up, what a mess, gotta feel for Asif he is a one man army at the moment
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
This test proved once again that Rana Uncle is not really a test bowler. This is his 9th test and he's taken only 16 wickets at an average of 61.18, SR 92.1! His stats make Sami's figures look positively encouraging.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Kaneria is no Warne (even Warne's a career second innings stats are more impressive than his first innings for obvious reasons) but let's hold our judgement about him until he's bowled in the second innings. If he regularly fails on days 4 &5 during the three test series, then it's a real concern.
Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion
Yes 6 dismissals to the pull shot is one to many. I always felt that PAK needed 400 in the first innings to give themselves a real chance in this test. With Boucher (who would naturally want to do well this being his 100th test) and Pollock still to come SA could build a big first innings lead.
