SA 165/3 off 31.3 overs.

Comment from Cricinfo:

We'll leave the last words to Maulik who writes in relation to the organisers' long list of banned items: "Seeing such low attendance, are you sure spectators are not part of the banned list?" Good night.

Well, an emphatic shot in which to bring up a win - and, in spite of a relatively cautious last few overs by South Africa, it was a fair walk in the park for them. Ireland were, as they have been all tournament, courageous and never gave up.

Watching the game :)

I am starting to have grave doubts about RSA. It seems as if they just don't want to go for the kill when they have the upper hand. I also have grave doubts because Kemp and Pollock haven't had a decent knock in ages.

My biggest worry is a captain that just doesn't think on his feet. We were so used to Hansie who would change his preset plan of action once something went wrong. In Smith we do not have that.

When the Proteas are throttling the Irish during the power plays, he would immediately open the fiedling once the power plays are over. Why not carry on with the agressive field placement while things go well and only adjust fielders out when they start upping the scoring rate?

Why not instructing Pollock to Bowl around the wicket to left-handers once he start taking flack? I doubt if there were more left-handers in a tournament than this one and Pollock normally do not bowl well to them. Why not give someone like Kallis/Langeveldt the new ball and let Pollock bowl in the middle overs to restrict the big hitters? Pollock is always, even here, good with that. Hansie Cronje decided to use Donald as 4'th bowler because he was better used that way.

If RSA does not win this World Cup it will not be because they are ignorantly called "chokers", but because the think tank (Smith and coach) are not very brainy and innovative.
