**If SouthAfrica wins the series … It will move to 1st position
Form guide (last five Tests, most recent first)**
**South Africa LWWWW
****Australia WLLWW
** Pitch and conditions
** There was some rain in the lead-up to the match, which meant that until a couple of days ago the players had not seen the pitch, which was covered by a tent-like structure that allowed the groundsmen to continue working on it. However, both teams are expecting plenty of swing, particularly on the first day, while it could be hard going for batsmen and spinners. There are further storms forecast for the first few days of the Test.
** Stats and Trivia
Jacques Kallis needs 12 runs to become the first South African to reach 10,000
AB de Villiers will become the fourth South African to play 50 consecutive Tests
Australia have won the last three Tests between the two sides at the Wanderers and two of the successes were innings victories
Re: South Africa v Australia, 1st Test, Johannesburg
Australia all out on 466. Johnson got deprived of 100, he was 96* while other batsmen got out. He thrashed Harris for 26 runs, scored 12 out of Steyn’s over to reach 96.
A very good recovery from 38/3 to 466 all out, interesting thing is any batsman who reached double digits went on to score 50+ otherwise the got out in single digit
Perhaps Ponting wanted to give some rest to his main bowler Johnson who took 4 for 25 and also spent quite a lot of time in the middle in making 96* in Aussies first innings
