Yet another failure in Israel’s efforts to shoot down democracy in Palestine.
A Hamas spokesperson said on Thursday that the militant group, which is to take over the Palestinian government this month, has been invited to South Africa for talks with officials.
No timetable has been set for the visit, spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri said.
The invitation dealt yet another blow to Israel’s efforts to isolate Hamas, which has refused to renounce its violent anti-Israel campaign since sweeping Palestinian elections on January 25
First Russia. Then Turkey. Then the EU sends money. Now this. Bit-by-bit… the wall is breaking.
What’s actually interesting is that since Hamas got elected, Israel has begun very actively killing Palestinians… focusing entirely on Islamic Jihad. Israel has, since the Hamas victory, kept well clear of killing Hamas personnel.
I think Israel is bluffing. They are talking tough but intend to see how much they can negotiate with Hamas.
