SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

Hi guys,
so I got a sari for my nikkah..it’s a white on..pretty nice.
Now, there is a thick border on it. underneath the sari, the threads that hold up the work show… you know what i mean?

should i put a thick piece or organza or silk to cover it up? or is it unnecessary? i will be wearing the pallu over my head. please show me examples if you think i should cover it up. like it really isn’t too bad, but is it typical to have it covered up on a wedding sari?

please let me know. thanks!

bump

i need some answers, people....quick!

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

yes torntobride u need to cover up the unfinished threads cuz as ur saying u'll have the pallu on head tht means it will reli luk odd u kno threads mingled up n all...defintly not a neat luk...u kno the bak part will be seen behind ur neck...u kno wat m trying to say...
try to cover it up with the same color fabric...
i belive tht it luks a bit indian if u cover ur head with a sari pallu but i even belive covering ur head on ur nikah...ive seen a couple of piks in brida pics thread...will try to post soon...dun worry u'll luk amazing!

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

doesnt it have a fall attached to it?

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

A lot of karigars will cover the kaam on the back with a jamavar pati both as a design detail and to hide the threads. That may not be an option for you if you can't get your hands on matching fabric.

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish - if you want to merely tidy the threads, some karigars added tulle netting to the back of kaam and that keeps it from pulling/fraying. If you want to hide it altogether so it is not visible, you may want to add opaque fabric. That being said - the fabric shouldn't be too heavy or it will affect the weight/flow of your saree fabric.

a fall doesn't cover all the borders but if there are threads showing then i would totally cover itup

so you guys think that stuff should definitely be covered on a bridal sari right?

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

^ yup... cover it up if possible... whens the nikkah? How much time do u have?

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

Why don't you wear the saree as it is and use a seperate dupatta to cover your head? I have seen almost every bride do that in Hindu weddings and it looks nice. Of course don't use some plain or cotton dupatta, use a nice embellished one that goes with the saree.

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

^ hahha plain and cotton dupatta that would be really funny !

Something like this

I am planning to do the whole sari & a separate dupatta for my Chauthi.

TBride def. cover the kaam as it won’t look that graceful with threads sticking out & congrats.

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

^that looks nice.

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

whats chauthi?

it does look really nice and my hindu friends get a net dupatta with a heavy border because it's super easy to keep a light dupatta on your head and the net material is very easy to stay in place.

I hope this help:

Re: SOS NIKKAH SARI ADVICE PLEASEEE

definitely get a thick border sewn in inside or the threads will show when you are photographed from the side. u could try the contrasting color....e.g. if your sari is white and gold you could do a gold patti sewn inside. The patti could be jamavaar or silk.

Got it from Nudrat Shahid's collection.

Chauthi is when the groom drops the bride back to her "Maica" on the 4th day of the wedding in the morning & she stays there tells everyone how things are rolling in her new house (kinda spends some quality time with her siblings) & then the groom & his family comes to pick her up at night & also have dinner. I know this tradition in in Punjabis as well as Karachians. Its like another big dawat after the Walema where the newly weds really dress up.
