I got my cell phone number changed when I moved to this city. Looks like this number belonged to most popular girl Stephnie before I was assigned this number. I would get many many calls looking for her. Initially I would tell them that it is not her number anymore but same person would call again after few days.
So I started to tell them that she is in Jail and would not be able to talk to them for next 5 years that is when they stopped calling.
Once I got a call from someone looking for John I told the person that this number is does not belong to John anymore. But he called again so I told him that he cannot come to the phone as he is in Jail. He asked what happened I told him a fake story as to how that guy got involved in drug dealing etc. After that I did not get a call from him.

Back home, our house phone accidentally got connected to a ladies hospital...where kids are born...what do you call them, nursing homes? We used to get calls asking about delivery status of women all day long. One day seemed exceptionally busy so I told all the callers, mubarak ho, beta hua hai.
i simply used to say stephanie is married.. i am her husband ..
in john's case, i did the same.. i was his husband too .. in first case calls used to stop because of obvious knowledge.. and in second case, welll .. they always used to .. "HUHMMM! NEVER THOUGHT"...
