sorrow and grief

…over world’s miseries and its heinous crimes against all life forms?

how much a good heart could be sorrowful upon realizing that it is not directly responsible for all of it yet all of this is happening in the world?

should it be a grief at all, that is felt by someone who is not a causing all the miseries nor physically actually hurting any life forms?

how would you define your ethics of sorrow and grief on this?

Re: sorrow and grief

Qaalaa RasulAllah (SAW) ...

‘He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand;
and if he has not strength enough to do that, then he should do it with his tongue;
and if he has not strength enough to do even that, then he should (at least abhor it) from his heart; and that is the least of faith.”

Sahih Muslim Hadith 79 Narrated by Abu Sa’d al Khudri

Our remorse should come for the crime itself and then for our own ineffectiveness to stop the crime. Sometimes not being involved is complicit if one does not speak out against injustices.

…have a big heart, stay positive , be kind to others -or- in other words; live & let others live :blush:

Re: sorrow and grief

thanks brother pyah, it makes sense only to be concerned about the greater good beyond oneself.

hsap, thanks for your perspective too.
but, being complacent definitely atleast, sometimes is not a good thing.
