I know that by morning I will be feeling like a hundred and ten years old geaser..and am just totally not looking forward to walking around downtown limping with ‘khalians’ and plus i gotta bruised shoulder…
What do you do to to reduce the after effects of intense physical activity..stretching helps to a certain degree, taking a cold shower to release lactics build-up ? I guess I don’t stretch properly or more extensively to be precise, and maybe, that’s why I tend to remain sore for at least couple of days and the feeling is just awful..
Make sure that in future you always stretch properly after exercising. There's not much you can do about the soreness you already have except to wait for it to wear off or go for a sports massage.
Cooling down slowly and steadily after a high intensity workout ensures that you disperse all the lactic acid build up back into the body.....so make sure you don't skip this stage.
i think icing works best if it's upper body, and this time i stretched quite a bit as I am appreciating the advantages with aging. I am hoping that it wont be as bad. There's one more thing that reduce some of the effects, which is to take a cold shower for few minutes and then switch to hot, that always helps..but i will wait till morning..what are some of the other remedies, perhaps shahreen can tell us more.
oh thanks shanz, I guess we replied at the same time. You are spot-on about cooling down and stretching afterwards to release all the lactic build up. And you know one thing I have noticed that stretching also helps greatly in extending one's endurance, don't why that is, perhaps the muscles get less strained, I am guessing..
