Sore Throat~

I have a horrible flu and a terribly sore throat.. my Dadi is FULL of desi nuska’s and totka’s but she isn’t here and nor am I able to get in touch with her :frowning: I remember a lot of oldies saying lemon juice is bad for a sore throat.. but then so many people say warm lemon juice and honey really works!

Help me out with u’re tried and tested remedies please.. my throat hurts :frowning:

Re: Sore Throat~

Never try Robotussin - I was coughing hard last week and it did not help at all.

I tried Theraflu - warming relief - nighttime Severe cold - medicine and it worked.

Hey gina sorry to hear u got the flue..but ur right lemon and honey is the best for a soar throat.
U know what i do, heat 2 cups of water in a pan add 3 ilaichi and ad 1 teabag, dont make the kawa 2 strong.
Then add 3/4 tablespoons of honey and slices of lemon. (u can do tht acording to ur taste) Drink a lot of it,and u'll b fine very soon:D

^ Thank yew! sniff

Re: Sore Throat~

Orange juice help fighting cold.

Interesting - i bought Robotussin(sp) and worked really well for me! Guess it depends on the individuals.

Gina sorry to hear you not feeling well - cant believe you got it whilst living in DXB. Dont forget to drink lots of yakhni - chicken soup is the best remedy imo. Hope you feel better soon inshallah.

Re: Sore Throat~

Gargling with hot salt water always helps my sore throat

Re: Sore Throat~

You can also try taking a tsp of honey by adding 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder in it.This is also a good remedy for sore throat.

also suck on vitamin C tablets

Meanie!

SE, it’s actually pretty cold in Dubai.. and I’m anaemic as well.. when u top it off by going to the hospital with mom 3 times a week for her dialysis, u’re bound to pick-up on all sorts of viruses :frowning:

But this time it’s horrible..the fever hasn’t gone down in over 3 days.. can’t sleep either cuz of the stuffy nose and sore throat! Worse bit.. i’m home alone :frowning:

Oh poo!! Im coming to Dubai next week inshallah. I am sorry that you are not feeling well. You feel extra cold when you are anaemic!! Just try and keep warm - sorry also to hear about your mum!

Here's what i do when im on my own and ill - get wrapped up in socks, leg warmers, gloves, hat and 2 layers of jumpers - make myself a BIG mug of hot chocolate and tuck myself in the bed with a hot water bottle infront of the tv. Hmmmm....lovely!!

Def meet-up when u're down here! :)

Cool...im in DXB next from 26th Inshallah till 1st of January Inshallah - who else is coming? Maybe we should organise a GS meet?

How are u feeling now...its my 2nd day with the same sort of things....cant wait to get rid of it...

I am doing all sorts of things like gargling with hot water n salt, steam, vicks and socks, lots of hot green tea...all this and I still had a terrible niight...:(

Re: Sore Throat~

Honey with adrak!

Alishat, i'm alright.. suprisingly it's been 8 days and no change! Nights are the worst.. docs say it's best to wait it out :( I can't take the stuffy/runny nose!

Shay hugs!

I did finally get in touch with my dadi and she said to heat a teaspoon of ghee, add elaichi to it and 1 tablespoon of crumbled "seviyan" cook it till they're brown and add a cup of milk and drink it!

Interesting! Thats jst a dessert!

No she made me add haldi to it.. and said the ghee shud lubricate a dry mouth.. warm milk wud reduce the swelling of my throat.. seviyan were meant for sumthing, the elaichi decongests! I can't recall.. but I swear it works! 1 had one cup of it in the morning.. and felt alright for 4 hours or so..
