Have you tried Lempsip?
Go to your pharmacist (they might be shut now though)and ask there advice...
Try Halls soothers or any other cough sweets to atleast try and soothe your throat

It doesnt take that long..a couple of hours.Well on me it does
Drink hot liquids...anything which has a soothing effect on the throat
